We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to create something that represent gender- neutral human, something that stood out on a shopping experience something that was about a lifestyle. Too often, humans are told who and what to be and force to follow rules that was made up by someone hundreds of years ago. We live in a world where traditions are obsolete and people are fighting for freedom of express. Is that really a crime.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The one stripe Brand- embracing both Feminine and Masculine Elements that exist within oneself.

Society have this thing where we divide the feminine only to the women and the masculine only to the men. But these characteristic/ energies lives within both sexes, some people are balanced with it while others call it an alter-ego or try to co-exist without the other.

Here at Gender Thieves we just embody both and wear it with style and grace.

As an adolescent,

the perception was always to walk a fine line, with the approval of society. Being raised by a man, I was always guided on how to stand up straight and to be like a girl; wear this, act like that and hearing “little girls don’t do that,” from my father. Having the desire to rumble through my brothers closest and to falling in love with menswear, had me confused on why I was yarning for both worlds.

Growing with a relentless disobedience to walk my own path, encouraged the journey to redefine society’s standards of being a woman. What does being a woman or man means? Is it defined in our gestures, our clothes or is it the energy we carry. I want to define this avatar of a woman in my own words, not by someone else ideas and beliefs.

The mission has always been about freedom of self expression. Be you. Following man made rules are for sleeping sheeps, not for the spiritual beings having a human experience.

Our Mission

Gender Thieves believes that every person have the strength of the masculine and the intuition of the feminine within. It’s about acknowledging them both and balancing them as much as possible. —Too much of anything can be toxic, right? So express yourself relentlessly and unapologetic. Broke the traditional walls and create new ones.

We embrace expressing your inner self through your outer experience. It’s about taking comfortable urban inspired styles and blending them with casual wear, to show the balanced entrepreneur, the hustler, the activist. Style is an extension of your inner self, so you might as well express it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spot to checkout with friends is Turkey Leg, to get a ambience of the urban world and great food. Color factory is another spot for me for lots of laughs and excitement. I’m such a lover of Art and colors, I think colors tell an unspoken story. I’m sort of new to the area, so there’s plenty of places to add to the list.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents , are my biggest inspirations. They taught me to be myself and didn’t judge me on my journey. They supported and encourage me to pull the best version of me out from within. My mentor Shelia Hawkins Bucklew, was the first mentor to help me believe in my dreams as a designer, she pushed me to step outside of my box and jump off the cliff to see if I could fly. She gave me my first shot at sell my products in her store front and mentored me alone the way. Not too many people would do that. My daughter gave me the strength to create my business, her excitement about the company and her talks with me on how she would love to pursue the company as an adult. She was the first to support and believe in my ideas,LOL.
