We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimbrianna Chenier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimbrianna, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My ultimate end goal with Kimmy YumYum Kookies is to be a house hold name. But not only that. I want my customers to feel that they are apart of my business. I want to be able to change lives and give people that never had opportunities, an opportunity. I plan to put others in a position to succeed with me. Kimmy YumYum Kookies will be bigger than JUST cookies.
What should our readers know about your business?
Kimmy YumYum Kookies is a black, female owned and operated gourmet cookie company that specializes in over 20 different flavors. we are known for super moist cookies that taste even better than they look. i think what sets us apart is the taste, customer service and being personable. Behind most businesses, youll never see the owner or know anything about them. I want my customers to be involved. Customers are your business. They make the difference.
I am super excited about opening a brick & mortar and having even more creative control. I have some huge dreams and i dont want to say too much because i am the type of person to not speak before my blessings come.
The way i got to where i am today is by ALOT OF PRAYER, patience, great customer service and consistency. I dont turn down business, i have ALL types of customers and I will go above and beyond for each. I am naturally someone that likes to make people happy and being a generous person so its been pretty easy for me. It has its hard times like super late nights, business can be slow, not having help in the beginning, etc. I stayed patient throughout all of the hard times because having my own business was inspirational in itself.
a major lesson that i have learned is to stop being nervous to tell random people about my business. I used to think like “Nobody cares” lol but honestly everyone really does care. I found out that people actually do want to support your business and you really are your biggest critic. My husband is who made me realize that there is so much opportunity in talking to people about my business. He’s pretty much my spokesperson. Once i started opening up to people, more business came.
I want the world to know that i want to help everyone and the people that were overlooked that were well qualified for any position or opportunity. I was overlooked alot for opportunities that I thought were perfect for me but if i had continued thinking that way i wouldnt have focused on being in my purpose.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There isn’t anyone in particular but the industry that led me here is what i have to give recognition to. I came from a retail cosmetics and beauty background which sparked my creativity. Ive always wanted whatever i did for a living to be creative. Retail though was definitely what got me prepared for the business that im in now. I never thought id be in the cookie business EVER!!! i just always loved cookies. while i was in the beauty industry, i was always thinking of having my own business and being able to have complete creative control. That inspires me. From creating cookie flavors, to branding, to marketing, to packaging, to merch.
