We had the good fortune of connecting with King Borris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi King Borris, how do you think about risk?
I can be very conservative when it comes to taking risks. I have a family now. The risk I take will affect them as well. That being said, I take calculated risks.
For example
Covid happened. I saw an opportunity to take on my side hustle and turn it into my mail hustle. 1 year latter I have definitely gain traction. I decided to stay out of the work force and try to make it on my own. Thats a huge risk to me. I have been working for someone since the age of 12. This is the first time I am dependent on myself. If I didn’t go all in then I would have never gotten this far along. I could have gone back to work. I could have taken all the stimulus and unemployment money and just sat on the couch and watched tv. I decided not to.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I created whats called ” The KB Network” This network stands for the King Borris Network.
It consists of
King Borris as a public figure
KB Media
The KB Experiment
KB University
KB Mentors
There are different levels of the network. It all starts with me. King Borris. I am the face of the network. When you look at my brand, it stands out. Its visual, it tells a story through the feed and the descriptions of my posts. It has a branded theme. My logo is more known them me as a person. I learned to use tech to grow any brand. I grew my brand first so I can prove to others what I do works. When they ask who helped me, the answer is one of my companies. So I offer these services and tools to people and companies so they can also grow.
Was it easy no.
Was it hard? No
It was just what it was. Work. I set out to learn how social media works. I did the research and the due diligence. I then applied what I have learned. Then I continued the process. I don’t think thats hard. Can it be difficult? Sure. I think the process itself if not difficult, Having the discipline to keep working is difficult. Having the thick skin to ignore the haters is difficult. We are all human. We are vulnerable to many things. The work itself, just do it. The doing part is the obstacle.
My brand is just me. Its a representation of who I am and how I want to be treated. I want the want the world to see that they are me and I am them. We are all the same in some way. If I can stand here and be authentic. Be myself then you can too.
You are the master of your own destiny. So write your story. Dont let others write it for you.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow. Of course there are so many things to do in Houston.
First things first I would go eat at Rudy’s or Raising Canes. I am from NJ and we don’t have these restaurants there. So those would be my go to’s.
I would take my friend to Sawyer Yards. To see all the amazing art studios and people in the yards. Specifically Art Binsters and Bohemian Studios. Those are my 2 fav. Places. I would take a tour of all the art that Houston has to offer.
We would have to visit discovery green and Bayou Park. Take a ride to memorial city and walk memorial city mall. The galleria is a must visit. City Centre would be a night time visit. Siting outside enjoying the vibes.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This one is dedicated to many people In the beginning (early 2000) it was Jorge Banos and Aramis R.
These 2 crated a change in my life that took me from the bad chapter of my life to the best chapters. They introduced me to different views of life. Books like think and grow rich, rich dad poor dad and the likes. We talked about these books and used their methods through out life. They were my true real friends that helped me change to what I call King Borris.
Forward to 2017 to today,
Gary Vaynerchuck, Tai Lopez, Wesley Virgin, Grant Cardone and The Mayor Paul Harris.
These are the people who have helped me take the processes I was using and give them a name. Give them more structure. There are alot of people who put these guys in a negative space. I feel its the opposite. They have taught me how to evolve at a faster pace. They gave me the tools I use today to succeed.
I give The Mayor Paul Harris a special shout out. He has put me in contact with people that have furthered the success in my life. His contact and trust has lead to me working with some mazing people that I would have never been able to work with. Paul has helped me and my family stay in a good place. For that I love you Paul…
