We had the good fortune of connecting with Kris Owens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kris, what do you attribute your success to?
Personally, I believe that our authenticity and genuine approach to our business has set us apart. I highlight the good, the bad, and the ugly of owning your own business. I am real with my Feisty Fam and they feel and see it. I also do my very best to engage with them on a personal level. They aren’t just another sale to be checked off a list, but a new friend I just met. I learn about them, and engage because I want to get to know them.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Feisty is for the person who loves to be different. The “weirdo”, is the person who doesn’t give a f&cK anymore and just wants to be free of all the “rules” of society. We are saying how we feel, and living unapologetically. That is my person. That is my vibe. Feisty started back in March of 2022, and I am so proud of the growth we’ve had since. We are in 6 different retail locations across the US, we have an amazingly loyal following, and we love what we do. I couldn’t ask for better results in such a short amount of time.
Getting here wasn’t easy, my personal struggles with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and more can make running a business on top of raising two boys, and being a partner, can be a struggle but luckily I’m learning to be kinder to myself and set boundaries with my time. It’s been a process but I’m getting there.
I’d love the world to know that Feisty is for everyone and anyone that just wants or enjoys just being themselves. They want to be seen, loved, and heard. We are just all a bunch of crazies trying to do our best in life and that is okay. Also, I want the world to know Feisty is my form of therapy and any “like”, share, word of mouth, and/or purchase literally is healing my soul one step at a time and my family and myself are incredibly grateful.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d first take her to Mala Market. This co-op vendor market space is beautiful. I LOVE shopping small and this is a prime and beautiful way to do it. You’ll find something for everyone there. Then I’d take her to Tom N Toms Coffee Shop in the Galleria. They are cute Korean coffee shop with yummy treats and drinks. Plus the owner Mary, and the GM Breanna are AMAZING people and honestly keep me coming back. Lastly, I’d go to St. Arnold’s Brewery. Their beers and ciders are great but the face they support a lot of local markets, makes me love them.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Mainly my supportive partner, Mark. He went along with this journey and he has really helped in every aspect of the business. It’s just as much his as it’s mine. Also, We Are HER is a National Sexual Assualt support group that I am a part of and they have really boosted my confidence to take the leap and make Feisty a reality. Lastly, my amazing Step Mother! Leslie! She calls me her “Feisty Warrior” and that’s where I got the inspiration for our name. So thanks, Mom! 😀
