We had the good fortune of connecting with Krondalette Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krondalette, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I originally founded The Nudie Bar Cosmetics to create an inclusive line of nude lipstick shades that complement all skin tones. As I expanded the line, I introduced additional lip products like tinted lip balms and sugar lip scrubs, always ensuring that everything was vegan-friendly so everyone could enjoy them.
One evening, my son, who has eczema, ran out of his lotion that we relied on for flare-ups. Since it was too late to purchase more, I was inspired to create a body butter line called The Nudie Bar Body, a branch of The Nudie Bar Cosmetics. Our products are vegan and cater to eczema, sensitive skin, or anyone who simply wants a luxurious, creamy butter with a pleasant scent. This idea has since grown to include body oils, beard oils, sugar scrubs, and more.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Nudie Bar Cosmetics is a collection of handmade products, all crafted by me, ensuring that I know exactly what goes into each one. I’m proud to say that my products are vegan and cruelty-free, reflecting my commitment to ethical beauty.
Looking back, I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come. What began as a single idea has blossomed into a diverse range of products. I primarily sell at pop-up markets and through e-commerce, and it’s been amazing to watch my business gradually expand. Each time someone purchases one of my products, it warms my heart, and every message or review I receive telling me how much they love my products reassures me that I’m on the right path.
My journey has been one of trial and error, learning from others, and being open to constructive criticism and feedback. I believe there’s something to learn from every piece of advice, and I’m never afraid to ask questions or reach out to others in my field. I look forward to the day when I can pay it forward. Growth isn’t always easy, but I’ve embraced it with open arms, knowing it’s part of the journey.
The one thing I want the world to know about my brand and my story is that our products are handmade, vegan, and genuinely good for your skin.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I don’t typically get out much but here are a few spots that I have recently visited that I enjoyed the vibe and the food.
93til – Brunch – Their chicken sandwich is a must try.
Koya – Dinner
Lov3 – Happy Hour
Jolie – Happy Hour
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give a shoutout to God for inspiring me with the idea to start The Nudie Bar and for providing me with the tools to bring it to life. I’m incredibly grateful to my husband, who supported me every step of the way. A heartfelt thank you also goes out to my family and friends, who were among my first customers and continue to believe in me.
