We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystal Norris-Landry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krystal, how does your business help the community?
Offering yoga classes & events allows me to show as many people as possible especially moms how to learn how to breathe, become one with themselves, and utilize yoga as a relaxation technique.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a Certified Yoga Instructor with a Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation & Leisure Studies from Southern University A&M College. I have a background in Mental Health due to being a Recreational Therapist prior to becoming a full time yoga instructor. I’m currently working as a Health Educator and Yoga Instructor for the City of Houston. I must admit I’m pretty excited about being able to enter the corporate sector of teaching yoga. My main goal is to be an illuminating light to the community by educating and spreading education on health and wellness by way of yoga. I especially have a love for reaching & educating underserved communities on how they can utilize yoga for self care & healing purposes.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d recommend anyone to visit Puttery, Buffalo Bayou Park, Flora, The Zoo (especially for Halloween or Christmas), and The Butterfly Exhibit. I feel like those are great attractions that will give any visitor a great experience. When it comes to food I recommend certain places based off a person’s taste buds.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Lex Gillan – Owner of The Yoga Institute where I received my certification.
