We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyara Andrews and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyara, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, but what really drove me to start Booth Boxx was noticing a gap in the event industry, particularly around photo and video experiences that felt intentional, inclusive, and elevated without being overdone. I wanted to create something that blended bold creativity with operational excellence, especially for people and communities who don’t always see themselves reflected in “luxury” spaces.

I saw an opportunity to not just offer a service, but to curate experiences that feel personal, premium, and Super fun without compromising on quality or representation. I also knew I could bring a strong backend foundation to the business from my background in operations and customer support, so it wasn’t just about the idea, it was about building something scalable, thoughtful, and impactful.

At the end of the day, I wanted to own something that reflected my values: excellence, authenticity, and community.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Booth Boxx is a luxury photo and video experience company based in Houston. We specialize in creating bold, custom activations for weddings, corporate events, and private celebrations. But more than that we create space. Space for people to be seen, celebrated, and centered in the moments that matter.

What sets us apart is our intentionality. Yes, our booths are beautiful, and yes, our photos are high-quality but it’s the care behind the experience that really makes us different. From the design of our templates and backdrops to the energy of our attendants, everything is curated to reflect the client and their community. We’re not just offering a service, we’re creating a vibe.

I’m most proud of how far we’ve come in such a short time. We launched in May 2023, and it’s been a whirlwind of learning, pivoting, and showing up. It hasn’t been easy. We self-funded everything and bootstrapped the entire operation, all while balancing full-time jobs. There were moments when I questioned if it would work but I kept coming back to the “why.” Representation, ownership, and legacy. That’s what fuels me.

Some of the biggest lessons I’ve learned? Don’t wait to be perfect to start. Community will carry you further than competition. And if you want premium clients, you have to deliver a premium experience in every detail, not just the product or equipment.

What I want the world to know is this: Booth Boxx was built with love, hustle, and a whole lot of intention. We believe everyone deserves to feel like the main character at their event, and we’re here to make that happen, one photo at a time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Houston for the week, I’d make sure they experienced the city the way I love i full of culture, Good food, and good vibes. We’d start with grabbing some Crawfish at Crawfish Cafe. One day would be dedicated to all of the Third Ward spots to support Black-owned businesses like Mo better Brews, 5015 and eat BBQ at Ray’s.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s no way I could tell my story without shouting out my wife, Britni. They have been my sounding board, my creative partner, and honestly, the person who reminds me why I started all of this in the first place. Building a business is hard, and there have been plenty of moments where doubt crept in, but They have always been the one to push me forward with both love and honesty.

I also have to shout out my community, specifically other Black and queer entrepreneurs who are out here making space where there hasn’t always been space for us. Seeing them show up fully and unapologetically gave me permission to do the same.
