We had the good fortune of connecting with LaChell Myles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaChell, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Customer service plays a huge roll in my success with my business. I take pride in making sure my clients are pleased with my service. Providing great customer service has gained my return clients and a lot of referrals. In the future I hope to create customer service training to business owners in need.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I’m LaChell Myles, a portrait photographer and owner of LaChell A Photography based in Maryland. My lens captures a diverse range of subjects: maternity, portraits, branding, engagements, events, and more. What keeps me energized each day is the journey of growth—from humble beginnings to where I stand now. Celebrating my 10th year as a photographer, with the past 7 months devoted entirely to this craft, fills me with pride. It’s a testament to my unwavering dedication.
My work ethic is my cornerstone, forged through countless nights of editing and absorbing photography tutorials on YouTube. I began in my mother’s basement, gradually transitioning to an industrial studio warehouse. Starting with photographing family and friends, I leveraged those images to attract prospective clients. Investing in essential lighting equipment and camera gear laid the foundation, and I continually upgraded to elevate the quality of my work.
Networking became my lifeline. Every opportunity to connect with models and fellow photographers was seized. Shadowing local photography mentors provided invaluable hands-on experience, while forging connections with their clientele expanded my reach. Challenges emerged—valuing my expertise, navigating demanding clients, and preserving a positive mindset amidst setbacks—but each hurdle became a lesson.
Recognizing the pivotal role of exceptional customer service, I prioritize understanding my clients’ needs. This commitment has fostered a loyal clientele base. Embracing difficulties as opportunities for growth, I’m constantly refining my business strategies. Looking ahead, I aim to develop customer service training modules for small businesses and craft HR handbooks, fostering organizational excellence and broadening their appeal.
In essence, my journey reflects resilience, continual learning, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in both craft and service.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First I would take my friend to a restaurant called Rock N’ Toss, they sell the best seafood boils. We would proceed to go to complete a fun activity such as beat the bomb or top golf. We can then end the night going to a local bar/club in DC to enjoy the night life.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to express my gratitude to God, whose presence has played an indispensable role in shaping my current circumstances. I extend my heartfelt thanks to my clients and supporters for their unwavering support of my work. Additionally, I am profoundly grateful to my family and friends whose steadfast assistance has been invaluable both personally and professionally.
