We had the good fortune of connecting with LaCresha Banks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaCresha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well, I envisioned my life as a stylist at the age of 16 and what it was supposed to be for me, but I didn’t embrace it right away. As an adult, the money I was making with the hours I put in and the work that had to be done didn’t match the pay. There was a need for me to create opportunities for growth, I needed to not feel like a “cap” was placed on me and my abilities. I didn’t go to beauty school with the mindset of working for someone else for the rest of my life. I wanted to be able to be creative in my own way, set my own rules, so I knew I had to stop running.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most proud of where I am right now and extremely excited for all my future endeavors. I would say that my love for learning new things, new challenges presented, and working with new personalities sets me apart from others. I would definitely say that my desire to create generational wealth, wanting to put myself in a position to take care of those who took care of me and those who can’t help themselves pushed me to go after my dreams. It took hard work, patience, dedication, faith, support, and a lot of tears to get where I am today. It wasn’t easy by far! I had to trust God before and during the process, and believing I could actually do it to overcome all challenges I was faced with. You have to keep your eyes on your dreams and goals, not your right now. I’ve learned that believing in yourself is the most important. Secondly, scared money doesn’t make any money! You can’t be afraid of the risk and what ifs. You just have to do it because nothing beats a failure but a try. I want my legacy to be that I worked hard at my craft, and I put my heart into everything I did. Every encounter I had with new and familiar faces was met with a genuine desire to make them feel better or help in anyway I could. I want the way I made people feel in my chair, and my loyalty in general to be appreciated for years to come.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I love to eat! Lol. So I’d take them to Lost and Found, Gloria’s, Turkey Leg Hut, Grace’s, and Eddie V’s for some amazing food. We’d go to Alexander Deussen Park to enjoy a beautiful outdoors scenery.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I first have to thank God for keeping his promise to me. The love and support of family, friends, and clients have pushed me to where I am today.
