We had the good fortune of connecting with Lana Dimassi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lana, why did you pursue a creative career?
I decided to pursue a creative career because I have always had such a creative mind growing up. From art being my favorite class in elementary school, to starting my own jewelry business in high school, I have always found a love for creativity. Once I got to college with a business management degree and realized my sophomore year that it wasn’t for me. I then decided to switch my degree to Graphic Design and am so happy I decided to do that. After choosing to study art, I purchased an iPad and started my instagram account where I first only shared illustrations. These last two years, I have loved combining art and positive quotes that revolve around mental health.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is created to help motivate and encourage others through fun pieces. I got to where I am today from trying different styles through out the years and finally finding one that I have stuck to for the past year. I was lost at some moments, but I learned patience is so important and not being discouraged by comparison to others. Being your own person on your own jojurney is so important. I learned over time I need to find my style that makes me who I am. I love sharing my art pieces and seeing them get shared. I alway post with the intention of reaching at least one person with the messages I share.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I was spending the day in Houston with my best friend I would start out with breakfast, probably at Tiny Boxwoods. After that, we would head over to paint some pottery. Once we are done, we would hit up Black Rock Coffee for a little boost. Next, we would head to the movies because that is one of my favorite places to be! We would probably end the night with Fadi’s eating Mediterranean food because I love taking my friends to my families restaurant and showing them a bit of my culture!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would never have made it here without the support of my fiancé, family, and followers on Instagram. Without the encouragement and re-shares I would not be where I am now.
