Meet Lanorah Woodhouse: Personal Care expert and Dementia Practitioner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lanorah Woodhouse and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lanorah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

Hi, thank you for having me.  

You see, my grandmother is my everything. So, at the beginning of my career as a caregiver, I was worried about my grandmother couldn’t afford someone who would take good care of her when she could need it. 

Things like: she may not have fresh food, or the attendance to take pills or even a warm bath, all those ideas were running from side to side in my head. 

My job and occupations could not allow me to take care of her, but I wanted someone like me to take care of her with kindliness when the time comes. So, I set a goal to start my own business. In this way, I could help her and other seniors to have quality care and have a happy retirement.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Sure! Let me tell you. 

We are a state-licensed Personal care agency in Houston, Texas. Lanorah’s Personal Care is committed to providing qualified, empathetic, and respectful caregivers. We even create customized personal care for everyone who asks for special requirements.

As I said before, my target has always been to attend seniors with quality care. Joyfully, when I ask clients how they knew about us, they always say: “somebody told me” all of our clients come from word of mouth, and I am happy to know that good quality care does travel.

Our achievements are very comforting, even though we have to face some challenges like not having enough staff to care for clients, due to our hiring takes time to find the quality caregiver with our values, but this is worth it because our clients are happy.

I think that is what makes us different from others. Something that I have learned in this path is that not every caregiver is passionate about this field. Happily, Lanorah’s Personal Care can always find the right people and conform a team full of persons sharing the passion and patience that caregiving deserves. In consequence, we can always bring the highest quality care.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

That sounds pretty good!

For example, I would love to start on a Sunday. I would take them to Beacons of Light Christian to hear some warm spiritual nourishment from Pastor Anthony Gasery and his lovely wife, Lady Gasery. Then, we would enjoy a good southern breakfast at The Taste of favor. Honestly, I love their mouth-melting lamb chops and warm grits. I would recommend them to try it. 

After that delightful meal, I would take them for some fresh air by walking at Houston’s beautiful Memorial Park. Then, for sure, I would take them to visit our magnificent Museums, and last but not least, I would finish the touring day by having a relaxing massage from my favorite Massage Height.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

Of course! Many wonderful people in my life helped me achieve where I am now. I would have not enough space to name them all but, I will name a few.
