We had the good fortune of connecting with Latanya Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Latanya, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It just popped in my mind one day. I was engaged and reach out to a friend about doing some t-shirts for my bridal party brunch, and I thought to my self I can do them myself. I never did shirts before or thought about it. I talked to one of my friend and she told me about the type of machine to use, so I purchased that and a heat press and I started. After that it just took of from me posting on social media and word of mouth. I started doing custom shirts that customers wanted, But then I started another business called She So Precious that I created religious or inspiring quotes for women on t-shirts. Later I decided to add some clothes for girls & women.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I Work fulltime with UT Health as a Senior certified coder. I have been working in the healthcare field for 20+ years. I completed a course in medical billing and coding in 2006. I earned my certifications for professional coder in 2017. I took that test 3 times before I passed I was not giving up. The course was easy as long as you studied the certification was a bit challenging, but I did it. I love to read so I do like coding because it is a lot of reading and understanding Operative reports. I’ve learned the more you know the better. So, I constantly try to learn and stay on time of the many changes in healthcare & coding guidelines. I hope to become a coding/Billing manager in the future. I just graduated last month with my AAS degree in Business management. I can utilize that in my personal business and professional career.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We definitely will go to eat out a few times while they are here. I pretty much plan ahead so if it where some events that week we would definitely go. I invite my friends to a lot of women’s events at my church or non profit organizations that I’m apart of. We would also just relax at home watch some movies, laugh and catch up. I like to go to comedy shows when they are in town. I like to visit women’s religious or business conferences and events.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I give all the credit to my heavenly father. Because if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t of never thought of that idea. At that moment I didn’t know where it came from. For the idea to just come out the blue when I had never though about or did shirts before. So, I am very thankful and owe it all to the Lord.
