We had the good fortune of connecting with Latham Liggett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Latham, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I first started Prophet Cassettes the main goal was to promote authentic people and help them share their message through digital marketable content. Whether that is through photography, videography, or graphic design. There are so many incredible companies and inspiring people in the world that no one knows about. The goal of Prophet Cassettes is to give those people and companies a voice to enable them to fully use their gifts to impact others in a positive way. Whether that is making content for a professional athlete that helps him encouraging the next generation to work hard and believe in themselves. Or if it is making a promotional video for a yoga studio promoting mental health. I want to be able to be the digital voice of impactful people.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I got to where I am today by staying committed to my dream no matter what that meant I had to sacrifice. I remember at one point in college I had seven jobs at one time ranging from a surf instructor on the weekend to driving uber at 2 AM on the weekdays after studying so I could catch the driver surge. Whatever, paid the bills to allow me to put my remaining energy into growing my own business. I have always had a desire to create something of my own that would give back to the world and I am willing to eat ramen every meal if that’s what it takes. I think the other thing that has kept me going is the support system around me. There are a lot of people that want to discredit your ideas and point fingers and laugh when you fail which I did a lot of…. But my relationship with the Lord as well as my incredible girlfriend have both been lifelines for me even when at times I didn’t believe in myself. Starting something new can be terrifying and if there is no past blueprint it makes it really hard to know what to do and having people to encourage you to trust in yourself and remind you who you are is imperative.

What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that its ok not to settle for what everyone else wants for you. It’s your life and you are the one that has to wake up and live it every day. If you have a dream to do something make the sacrifices because its worth it!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Man anything authentic and creative really draws my attention. If I could go anywhere right now it would be first to Brooklyn to see the KAWS exhibit who is by far my favorite artist. Then it would be off to Utah and Colorado to get lost in the wilderness for a bit with some snowboarding for sure scheduled in somewhere.

I am not much of a foodie so food wouldn’t matter as much as the company! The people around you are everything. My girlfriend and golden retriever are my favorite people to be around.

When I am not escaping the world my truly favorite thing to do is travel with clients to capture events. I love airports, traveling, and putting together the story.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, my mentor, Heath Phillips has been by my side for the past 6 years. He has helped me grow as a person and as a business-minded individual. He has helped me define what my passion was and what I was good at and how to use that to bring value to others. I am so thankful for his continual support and partnership along the journey from the very start.

I also can’t go without thanking Kringe. Kringe was the first artist I truly took on managing full-time I remember telling him that “I didn’t have all the answers but would work harder than anyone else and that I would always have his best interest in mind.” We grew so much together and I have never had someone challenge me so much to be great. Kringe will always be considered family.
