We had the good fortune of connecting with Latisha Sidney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Latisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Before starting EyeKandi Boutique, I knew I wanted to start something that would allow me to stay home and raise my two children. I wanted to be my own boss so that I’m able to grow doing something I love. I wanted to stay out of the ordinary corporate America jobs but I wasn’t sure on what to take on at first. Initially, it started with photography, although I am good at it, it wasn’t something I looked forward to doing. It was more of a hobby and I really wanted something I could wake up and be excited about. In the midst of doing research, reading books and watching YouTube videos I found my love for eyelash extensions. It then turned into my passion as I started seeing more customers and opportunities through the year.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

With our KandiMinks, KandiFrames, & our Creamy Matte LipKandi, one can be on TOP OF THE WORLD. What sets me apart is how I make a connection with my clients. Making sure they feel comfortable with me is a big deal for me because essentially, that’s what is going to bring them back. I try to keep my social media on a positive side. I try to lift my clients/followers with positive words and affirmations in hopes to give them that little push to go out there and not be afraid to do something that makes them happy. I am where i am now professionally, because I feel like I put in the work, The research, and the continued education so that I’m knowledgeable in this lash industry. It hasn’t been easy, but with perseverance and practice it’s possible. In the past, my challenges were overthinking, being more confident and trusting in myself. I’m still a work in progress but I’m more confident and ready than ever.
I want the world to know that if I can start something from scratch, anyone can. If you’re willing to put in your time, your dedication, and your heart into something it will flourish in ways you can’t imagine. I want my brand to be known as a positive influence to the young women out there, to let them know that We don’t have to settle, we can dream big but we have to make sure we’re willing to put in the hard work because dreams don’t work when you just wish for them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh my gosh!! soooo if my besties was visiting we would definitely have to go to the Mall because they love to shop and spend money lol. We would check out the Turkey Leg Hut, The Graffiti Wall, Kemah Board Walk, The Water Wall and maybe ride down to Galveston. We would spend some time at the Spa, because we could all use pampering And I would love to ride bikes through downtown. I haven’t had the chance to do that yet! I don’t get out much so my list is rather short lol

I want to send a special shout-out to all of my customers(KandiGurls), the guys too and all my supporters!! I appreciate their dedication to EKB, their loyalty and referrals during my 1st year since I’ve been in the industry.
