We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When I started my lash business in 2020 I took a blind step out on faith. I built Lashed by Lauren Co. from the ground up. I took the risk and can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself. Deciding to start my own business has changed my life at just 20 years old. I believe that risk is necessary to grow and succeed with anything you do especially being an entrepreneur and a small business owner.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have been lashing for 2 years! I take pride in being a very versatile lash technician delivering many unique styles that catches the eye. I’m so excited to see what my business will be in the future, I pray that it only gets even better from here. To get where I am today it took consistency, hard work and patience. Being an entrepreneur is definitely one of the most challenging things I have ever done; but also the most rewarding. Early mornings, late nights, setbacks, etc but I love every minute of it. I’m learning and growing every day because of it. One lesson I learned and now understand is that when having your own business you have to set your self apart from others and do what is important and beneficial for your business and brand. No matter what others think, no matter what others may do, you have to have self control and know your worth and what you bring to the table. My brand is very important to me, I will always carry it at a high standard and will always protect it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston has so many fun places to go and have a good time. I would definitely go to Post Houston they have so many different places to eat and try I love it! After I would want to go Downtown at night & ride scooters and just enjoy myself!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe a lot of my success to my supportive clients! I can’t express how grateful I am to each individual who books with me & supports me through every endeavor. I did not expect my small business to grow into a successful business within just 2 years, for that I am forever grateful and blessed. I’d also like to give thanks to the women in my life who played a key role in my success and independence, my mother and my grandma. I want to thank them for always believing in me and what I can do.
