We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Austin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started Boss Girls Brand with the vision to create a team of High Performing women who want to be successful not just in their careers, but also with their own personal health and fitness. I wanted a team of women who uplift and support each other. When one of us wins, we all win. Through the use of fitness and tailored nutrition programs I build each woman up, helping them to achieve their goals and become healthier, stronger, and happier versions of themselves.
What should our readers know about your business?
Boss Girls Brand provides different opportunities for women; and I have the knowledge, certifications, and background with training and nutrition to take women to a new level with their physiques; I have trained women to step on a stage and become a Pro as well as help women lose over a hundred pounds. Not every coach out there has the ability to do that. And in doing this, we have a team of women who support each of their unique goals. I have built something that my clients believe so much in themselves, they take pride themselves in being apart of the Boss Girls Brand. #likeaboss. We rep the brand where we go and each are proud to be a part of.
Growing a fitness business is not easy! I have had ups and downs during the growing process and know that there will be more to come. There has always been outside noise/people that want to see you fail. As sad as it is to even write that; it is true. One hardship that was my biggest anchor in growing the brand to what it is today was actually trusting the wrong person to take a leadership role. It made me feel like a failure myself as I saw the clients not getting the results they should have, tasks not being completed, and at one point the team was imploding, right before my eyes. I had to do what was best for THEM and step away from them. In turn I have been able to create something bigger, better and stronger!
I pride myself on being a life long learner and will always continue to learn to make the Boss Girls Brand better and better every day. I am results driven when I create my programs; my clients GET RESULTS!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Food in Houston is amazing, most recently I have fallen in Love with Musafer’s restaurant. It is in the Galleria and has some amazing authentic Indian food; that would be a definite for my itinerary. Riding bikes around Hermann Park or on the White Oak trail are fun; stopping at a patio some where in the Heights for a cold beer.
Take a walk around Rice Village, stopping at random shops to buy things. Meeting friends for brunch at Killen’s in the Heights or Empire Cafe.
Spend the night at the JW Marriott Downtown; while floating around the Texas Shaped Pool.
Head to Discovery Green to see what events or live music is taking place there.
Drive to Kemah or Galveston; hit up a seafood restaurant and walk the boardwalk or sea wall.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I started my fitness career in 2013, mentored by my own body building coach, Dewayne Malone. As a brand new trainer in the fitness industry, he took me under his wing and showed me how to train, coach clients, run a business, and anything you could think of that would help me succeed on my own. When I ventured off on my own and started my own personal training business, working with clients of all ages, but I still learned from him. When the idea for Boss Girls Brand came to my mind, I knew I was ready to venture in this new path with a new adventure of building this business. I am very appreciative of the on going support he gives me, even to this day. The fitness industry is an ever changing place but I know that I have that support if I need it.
