We had the good fortune of connecting with Leif Christiansen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leif, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“To help everyone to become a better version of themselves”. I think you should share everything you know with everyone, and make this a better world.
What should our readers know about your business?
Many years ago, a young man from Denmark came to America with a suitcase, $20, and a vision. His dream was to open a hair salon that would become successful in helping people from all walks of life feel great about themselves. In November 1973, he brought that vision to life, and fortynine years later, it is still going strong.
Leif’s Hair Studio, a well-known Houston salon, was located on Cypress Creek Parkway since day one and has established itself as one of the longest running businesses on the long stretch of road formerly known as FM 1960. Long before the hustle and bustle, and not to mention traffic of this busy road, Christiansen planted his salon upon its ground, and his business has since blossomed and flourished into a haven for “good hair”.
In 2015 Leif’s moved north to our present location on Kuykendahl at 2920.
Over the years, owner Leif has assembled a diverse team of well-educated stylists who have constructed a loyal clientele and salon fan-base. The salon team also participates in regularly scheduled in-house continuing education classes to expand their knowledge and skills of the craft that they all share a passion for. Open Tuesday through Saturday every week, the team provides hair colors, cuts, and styles tailored individually to clients of all ages and backgrounds. Leif’s Hair Studio prides itself in helping others become the best possible version of themselves, which has also consistently been the salon’s mission statement for the past 49 years.
“Our clients have been loyal to us for years, some even going as far back as the day we first opened our doors in 1973.” says Christiansen. “We appreciate every last one of them, including every new face that graces our salon. Without our clients, who we really consider to be friends, the studio would not be what it is today.”
Almost 50 years of success is surely something to be proud of. Leif hopes to continue to uphold the salon’s tradition and reputation for providing skilled, precise hair coloring and haircutting techniques to keep clients up-to-date and in style, as well as helping them to feel confident and beautiful.
