We had the good fortune of connecting with Lillian Walcott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lillian, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started off as a momtographer, a mom who takes excessive photos of her kids. After friends and family members contacted me numerous times asking if I am photographer, I decided to invest into becoming a professional photographer (part-time) by completing photography workshops and classes.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a natural light photographer who specializes in children and family photography. During the week, I am a project safety engineer. Yes, photography and engineering are two different professions, however I love learning and being challenged.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A few of my favorite West Houston and Katy spots I would take a visiting friend to are: Erma Rose Winery, Brown Sugar Cajun & Soul Food, That’s My Dog, Proper Rose Garden, and Houston Improv.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to Traci Nieto Photography for convincing a newbie like me to attend a photography shootout in 2017 with other amazing photographers. The photography shootout was when I realized I wanted to invest into becoming a professional photographer.
