We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Carranza and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsey, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I first graduated from college I was unsure what career path was right for me. I tried out the typical ‘corporate’ job route but didn’t find what I was looking for – even though at that time I wasn’t quite sure what that even was. Even though it wasn’t my dream job, I stuck with it for about a year. That’s when my grandfather unexpectedly passed away. After going through that tough loss, I knew I had to pursue a job and a life that was worth living and worth doing. I’ve always had a passion for people, love and weddings. In fact my friends and family joke that I’m “in love with love.” This is what made me take a chance on myself and quit my corporate job to get my foot in the door of the wedding industry and start my mobile bar business!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is a mobile bar and bartending service. I repurposed a 1968 Volkswagen truck into a mobile bar that can serve beer, wine, prosecco and even cocktails on tap. It’s perfect for any event that wants to have a bar for its guests, whether that be weddings, birthday parties, baby showers, corporate events or store openings! What I believe sets us apart from other bartending services is the unique look of ‘Iris’ our mobile bar and the staff we employ. Our mission behind creating this business is to be able to create experiences that are delicious, fun and memorable. Therefore it’s only fitting that our slogan is “Serving Memories on Tap!” By hand selecting our staff, I ensure that they are not only qualified bartenders but that they also care just as much about the clients experience as I do! I want everyone to know that at The Vintage Brew, we want to understand what’s important to our clients so we can elevate their bar experience in a way that makes an impact on them. This is why as a business we focus on building relationships with each of our clients!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Houston there are a couple of things we would have to do! First we would have to get some good Houston Tex-Mex. We would probably go to El Tiempo so we could enjoy some delicious fajitas and strong margaritas! We’d also have to hit up a Houston Dynamo game. Growing up my entire family played soccer, and there’s nothing better than being able to support the home town teams. Since I practically always have my dog, Bennett, with me, we would also have to go to Millie Bush dog park. For dinner and drinks we would go to either the Karbach brewery or the Rustic. Other than that, we would spend most of our time catching up at home with a good glass of wine and board games!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I’d love to give a shoutout to my parents! Even when I shocked them by quitting a good job, they never stopped supporting me and pushing me towards greatness. Throughout my whole life, they’ve always believed in me more than anyone else and I’ll forever be grateful. Second, I’d love to shoutout my boyfriend! He’s not only a supportive boyfriend of what I’m doing, but he’s also my right hand man when I need something for my business, whether that be my photographer or a mechanic for my bar. Without these three people who have encouraged me every step of the way, I wouldn’t be where I am right now.
