We had the good fortune of connecting with Linsay Ferreira and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Linsay, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
The most important decision was to just DO IT! There is so much doubt when jumping into the unknown of small business. If you let it take over, you will never do it. It sounds silly for that to be the “decision”, but think about all the ideas you’ve ever had- have you decided to actually DO any of them? Did you take action?
What should our readers know about your business?
Throughout my career I have been on both the manufacturing and buying side of the industry. It is so incredibly helpful now that I have my own shop. From fit, product development, pricing, inventory and all the boring stuff, I have already dabbled in it all. That does NOT mean I always know what I’m doing, but I certainly know more or less what to expect. And because it’s currently just me, I really get to listen to my customers and provide them with exactly what they want.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
That’s tough, there are so many options in Houston! We would possibly take a day trip to Round Top, definitely visit museums and Memorial Park, but our main focus would be food! Squabble, Bludorn, Georgia James or good ‘ol Lupe Tortillas…we would eat and drink it all!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
That person is no doubt my husband, Leo. He is so supportive and gave me the confidence I needed to just go for it. From living abroad, navigating motherhood and jumping into the unknown of small business, he has been there cheering me on through it all. He’s a real gem and I’m so lucky to have him.
