We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Marie Cruz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa Marie, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important has been to not believe everything other’s have to say. Many people would tell me “There’s going to be a lot of competition out there because you sell Dulces Enchilados.” That is not true! I am very great friends with many vendors who sell the same thing I do and I do not see it as a competition. We are all trying to provide for our family so whenever they ask me for advice, I truly give them great advice because it’s hard to get out there and make yourself known. Thanks to my business I’ve met incredible and amazing vendors who sell the same thing I do, who I see as really good friends who we can share our victories with.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always been a stay at home mom. So I started dedicating my free time in arts and crafts. I use to have a small business of paper flowers and cake toppers and any other decor that you could imagine for parties. We use to create unique cake toppers for little kids birthdays and also beautiful backdrops with paper flowers and backdrops for different events. Up to now I really enjoy doing things like that. I don’t do it anymore as a business but every now and then for fun and as a favor yes. But we love our new job now. We are a full time mom and wife and now business owner of Inches Dulces Lokos. Which is way more funner than sitting down looking at a computer all day.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Tacos Cuhh is the place to go to when you are hungry and thirsty. They have the best micheladas, tacos and tostiaguachiles you will ever have in Houston! And the customer service is the best. Especially when they have their popups. Also Traders Village and Sunny Flea Market are the places to go to for a family funday Sunday! They have many different vendors from Mexican candies up to Mexican Decor for your home. And last but not least Las Delicias Mexicanas! It’s like going into Candy heaven. Manny and Danny will sure take care of you! They have a variety of Dulces Mexicanos and they also carry their own line of Dulces Mexicanos like Dulce De Leche and many other Mexican candies made of milk and coconut and other goodies.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I will forever be thankful for my husband and my mom. And also my kids. They were my first supporters along side the rest of my family and friends. Also to my uncle David and my aunt Ruby who were the ones who introduced us into joining our first ever pop-up in January 16,2021. Also, to every single one of our customers who have been loyal to us for these past few months. We appreciate you so much, you have no idea how much we love you guys! Also we couldn’t forget about the ones who took us into their family stores and who have helped us along the way, Las Delicias Mexicanas! It has been such an honor to work with Danny and Manny and the whole entire family these past few months. Thanks to their dulcería mexicana we were able to offer our candies to different parts of Houston. Also to my great friends who I’ve meet along the way and who always cheer me up Freshies by Val, Mely’s Candy, Anahis Kreations, Jennis Baby Cakes and Artebynessa. I really appreciate you guys so much.
