We had the good fortune of connecting with Lulu Mapande and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lulu, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Don’t let your mind bully your body and goals.
This Affirmation means a lot of things to me but the 2 things I like about it are; firstly, I am an over thinker by nature and tend to be too hard on myself. With this sometimes comes imposter syndrome. This Affirmation however, has taught me how to turn my thoughts into tunnel vision, that way I don’t compare my business or brand to the much saturated social media world. Secondly it helps me use the success of others as encouragement and tamplate that I could use with my own way of doing things of course to achieve success.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Am a Nurse by profession. I have been a nurse for 11 years and currently do travel nursing within the Houston area. Am an empath by nature so it’s only fitting that am a pediatric nurse. What started off as a hobby and outlet become a passion and a way to leverage my life of fashion and creat an income. I start of as a fashion blogger then God led me to become a stylist, event host and red carpet host. I have also been fortunate enough to style at both New York fashion week 2018 and LA fashion week 2021 as well as doing an on air style segment on Houston Life Tv. My main take away from how I am where I am today is God will always lead you or bring people in to lead you to your calling. Always listen to that inner voice.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely love brunch. So we would definitely have to slay and have brunch with mimosas at some of my favorite brunch spots like Lucille’s, Bloom and Bee and Taste bar. We would then visit the museum district then end the night with some cocktails at the secret gardens.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My daughter Akello who my brand and business is named after. I love you And everyone else that supports, believes and encourages me
