We had the good fortune of connecting with Lynette Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lynette, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Growing up, I always wanted to have my own business. I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs. In high school, I was in a hospitality program. My passion for event planning started then. As I furthered my education, I changed my career to education. My husband and I both have degrees in Education. We both work with kids and love our jobs! A few years later, my daughter was born, and I became a stay-at-home mom. As my daughter grew up and my time at home was coming to an end, I started to think, am I going to go back to education or do I want to pursue event planning. Because I still missed working with adults.
Well, fast-forward to April 2023, Rolling Sweets Houston was created. We were the first in Houston to offer the candy machine station. Soon after, I met our dear friend Betsy with Fluff and Stuff. She encouraged me to expand my service and add Cotton Candy. Rolling sweets now has a variety of services, including ice cream and popcorn. In our first year, we accomplished several milestones and have received many compliments on our customer service. I can’t express enough how lucky we are to have such amazing clients! We have some that are now repeats, and it’s amazing to see each of their kiddos grow!
Thank you, Houston Tx and surrounding areas for allowing us to keep doing what we love without y’all we wouldn’t be here! We hope to be part of your next event!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The service Rolling Sweets provides our customer service and professionalism is our priority. No matter how small of an event it may be or how big, our service doesn’t change. We strive to provide the same excellent service at all of our events.
What am I most proud of? I honestly have to say I’m proud of how many opportunities Rolling Sweets has had. One of our biggest opportunities this past year was to cater the Houston Texans! We had such a fantastic time and were truly blessed with the opportunity. Recently, we were also at the Latino Health Summit. We met so many amazing people from the Latino community.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places to eat is Fogo de Chao Brazilian steakhouse, followed by dessert at Savannah Cafe and Bakery. The millionaire pie is my favorite! Taking a stroll at any of the Houston parks is always nice. I love being outdoors. Houston is such a big city that there is just so much to do. I’m still exploring new areas myself! That’s the cool thing about HTX.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First my family! My husband, who is behind the scenes building carts and doing all the heavy lifting, without him rolling sweets would not be rolling. No pun intended. To my parents who step in at anytime to take care of our daughter or step in to attend events when needed. Their encouragement and support means a lot, which helps me enjoy every event with ease.
I’d love to recognize two people! Nicole Creations Houston, who’s my aunt. She is constantly supporting me to succeed. My second person and mentor Betsy with Fluff and Stuff. The most selfless person in the event planning industry. She’s the person who will always root for you and always give you the opportunity to shine.
