We had the good fortune of connecting with Lynn Delaney and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lynn, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Well, for the past year I think work/life balance has changed for all of us considering COVID19. For me personally this pandemic has really made me focus on developing myself as an individual as well as spending more quality time with the ones I love. Before COVID I think my focus was mainly on work, work, work but now I feel as if i’d like to be a better person overall–someone well-rounded and one who not only gives to the people I love but the community and the world as a whole.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Currently I have so many projects going on its unreal! Somehow I have been blessed to keep up with everything. In addition to working full-time in education I have started two businesses and also record content for my growing YouTube channel. I own and operate a male grooming product line called Richard Wash Grooming LLC where I specialize in handmade bath and body products for men. I also have a non-profit organization which will help the homeless. I wouldn’t say anything about running a business is easy except for the initial idea that you’d like to start one. There are so many challenges and it is easy to get distracted and off-track. Personally like I mentioned earlier–get yourself a good tribe. A great group will keep you focused when you get discouraged. If there is one thing I would like the world to know about me and my brand and story is that I am just like you. I am a woman, a mother, an employee, a friend–don’t let anyone tell you that you cannot have all you want out of life. I’m still on my journey to manifest all my desires but I have every confidence that the successes I want in life are on their way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a Houston native and i’m sad to say I haven’t even had the opportunity to visit all the sites in town I would like to. If i was hosting a visitor I would likely take them to see our beautiful skyline, the ship channel, and I would drive them down to experience Kemah and Galveston. There are also several restaurants we would go to since I hear Houston is one of the best spots in the world to get good food.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My children are my biggest motivators in life. From the time I knew I wold become a mother I was on a mission to provide and do for them. Also, you have to get yourself a solid group of friends. Everyone needs people in their life who will uplift and motivate them and also give them a stern talking to and reality check when needed. I’m grateful for my “tribe” and wouldn’t trade the advice and knowledge they’ve given me for anything.
