Meet Maci Perry | Owner & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maci Perry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maci, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is the crazy cousin to Courage and Faith. Without taking the risk, you will stay the same place of stale regret for a lifetime. When I started Chic Interiors & Events, I didn’t realize the major risk I was taking because I have been raised by a Father who laughs in the face of risk. As an entrepreneur, he raised me to carry a secured boldness in knowing that it is better to have faith and risk it all, then to never step out and do what you feel led to do.
CIE was birthed in the trenches of risk. It was 2019, I was recently divorced from a 10 year marriage with nothing to my name, but my name. So all I had was the ability to believe in risk. This was the driving force behind the jump to start a full service hospitality house that caters to interior design, event catering and event design client. No matter the budget, we focus on providing an intentional touch to every moment spent with CIE.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At CIE we are focused on creating luxury design and experiences for all budgets. As a third generation Interior and Event Designer, I did not just wake up one day and decide to walk into this career. I was born into this career. Design has been in my heart and soul ever since I was a young girl. I would assist my Mother with catering Art Exhibits, Weddings and more. What I didn’t realize is that the years I spent working with her, would be the hands on experience and training that would teach me what I know now about hospitality. Hospitality is anticipating what the client needs and having it ready before the client/guest even knows they need it. This is what she imparted into me. I know carry this intentional heart and touch into every project, event, interior design job and catering service we do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love a diner! One of my favorite spots is always Dot’s Coffee Shop. It full of nostalgic beauty, great coffee and even better food! We would make sure to drive the city at night, listening to music, exploring and experiencing downtown lights at night. There’s truly nothing better. Some of my favorite shopping spots would have to be explored and we would for sure make a detour to the Guild Shop. You never really know what you can find! I’m a true Texas Girl, so a steakhouse would be a must. I don’t like trendy, I am an old soul when it comes to food. So my steakhouse option would be Pappa’s Bro. Steakhouse with a visit to VooDoo Doughnuts or Jenni’s Ice Cream, for a sweet treat. I love Houston. Our city is full of surprise, soul and delicious food. Grace’s on Kirby, a booth in the bar, a bowl of collard greens and a cup of coffee and we would end the week laughing, sharing stories, encouraging each others dreams and looking forward to the next trip together.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would be nothing without my God. He is the reason I am where I am today. Doors have opened because I have said YES to all that He has for me. From the White House to your house, my heart is to always represent Him well. Hospitality is the very heartbeat of life, we all walk in some form of hospitality whether we know it or not. It is just my joy and calling to get to live it out in service form every day. When I am asked to design a living room, curate a brunch catering for a bride, design a backdrop for a birthday and so much more. What a complete gift it is to walk with God, as I live out my passion. I am thankful for the blessings He has provided and I am currently looking forward to all that He has next!
