We had the good fortune of connecting with Maegan Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maegan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Living with chronic stress and overwhelm can steal the joy out of life. In fact, this was my reality for several years. As a child and young adult, my experiences shaped me to mature quickly. Whether it was coping with a parent’s drug addiction, working full-time while going to college part-time for 7 years to earn a bachelor’s degree, experiencing divorce at 26-years-old, or landing a demanding career as a corporate communicator, I have felt the pain that comes along with being able to barely hang on from one day to the next.
By my mid-20s to early-30s I suffered from burnout. What I struggled with the most was not being able to show up authentically for my family and friends, and feel my best when they needed me to be present. What I desired was to be my best self as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, employee, and volunteer who lived each day with energy, enthusiasm, and vigor.
Through my trials, I found my purpose to help women ditch the stress so they can live with more balance, freedom and joy.
Luminare Life is designed to help women embrace alignment, balance, connection, and impact through our 4-pillar coaching approach.
In the ALIGN Pillar, clients learn how to create internal alignment with their truest desires and prioritize wellbeing. Next, clients will take their newfound internal alignment and move into the BALANCE Pillar to achieve productivity, organization and harmony in their external environments. Next, clients transition to the CONNECT Pillar to strengthen their relationships by building heart-centered communication skills. Lastly, in the IMPACT Pillar, we uncover how clients can positively impact the lives of others when they experience a life of balance and joy.
Our company slogan is, “Be the light, create the change.” We believe that when people feel grounded and at peace with their inner self, they illuminate a light that positively impacts people around them.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
After graduating from the University of Houston in 2012, I landed my corporate communications career with BP America.
During my career I have created corporate communication materials, planned events, coached c-suite executives on effective communication strategies, authored speeches, managed internal digital communication channels, developed content for reports, and built loyal business partnerships while communicating organizational missions, goals, and objectives to global audiences.
The top three lessons I’ve learned along the way:
1. Listen, listen, listen. Effective listening not only shows people you care, it’s essential to effective communication.
2. Take care of yourself. Prevent burnout by taking time off when your body is telling you it needs rest.
3. Don’t take life too seriously. Work hard, but remember to take time to let loose and have fun.
4. Find a reason to smile. A smile can change your whole mood and attitude, even when the day isn’t going how you want it to.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A crucial part of my success is having the right support and community. My husband, Michael Turner, encourages and supports me to live out my dreams! My family, including my children, parents, sister and sister-in-law, and Mrs. Ivette, have been my biggest fans. I couldn’t have done my brand design without Alex, owner of Sonrisa Studios. She really challenged me and inspires me to keep reaching my goals!
