We had the good fortune of connecting with Makarios Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Makarios, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
As a African American female, you don’t read or see us in county magazines or country clothing store posters. As model as well as a cowgirl. My goal is to bring awareness to African-American beautiful cowgirl and teach young females to follow their dreams without fear
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a very young girl, I always looked up to the wild Wild West lifestyle. If someone would have told me at the age of 18 I would be where I am now, owning horses and giving lessons, I would have laughed til my side hurt. The hardest part to becoming who I am today was the Uncertainty in success ,if I could actually afford owning my own horse, rent, car note, bills and so much more but it was my dream to be a cowgirl. The biggest lesson I learned is if it’s on your mind jump in it with both legs and if you fail it’s okay Because you just did what 87% of people would never do and that is take a step of uncertainty.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Stacy Tune, I choose her, not just because she is my boss, she is an amazing mother, mentor and all about human. I’ve seen hear stand strong under pressure and persevere in some of the most uncertain circumstances. I wouldn’t be here without her giving me a chance
