Meet Marce Garcia | Cake designer & baker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marce Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marce, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Every celebration deserves cake. And celebrations are to make people feel special. So I wanted to create the space where people could find just that. We believe that the term ‘custom made’ not only means ‘baked from scratch”, but a creative process where artistry, crafting and amazing baking skills come together with one purpose: to bring to life the unique vision of our customers for their special moment.

And so we not only make cakes, we create memories.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would describe my art in cakes as very detailed oriented with a modern style and sophistication. To achieve that I had to go back to the basics and learn different types of cake decorating and sugar art, beyond the baking and beyond the classics, in a way that speaks to a more modern customer, who also has many options and different budgets,

Is not always easy in a world of trends but I’m also enjoying the challenge of having to think outside the box while also ensuring a premium product. It keeps my creativity going and is quite fulfilling when I see the result.

The lessons I’ve learnt along the way is that trends may come and go but the basics remain so you can create something new.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I like so many places is hard to choose. First I’d suggest to visit the Museum District and Hermann Park. My personal favorite is The Museum of Fine Arts but you can’t go wrong with any of em. Also Discovery Green and Downtown for the city experience and then Galleria for shopping.

For food & drinks I would stay in the Heights or Montrose area, so many great options.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be the person I am today without two things: The Lord and my family. Is where I get all the support, the love and encouragement to always pursue my dreams and keep going. And to know that as long as I have this foundation, I have the tools to succeed even when I think I’m failing.
