We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcela Gaviria and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marcela, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
After years of working in the corporate world, I decided to take leap and start my own business, it was a dream of mine from a long time to put into work the passion I have for parties and celebrations, I wanted to embrace my creativity and let my imagination run wild while creating sleepovers for kids. So here I am 6 years after with Hopitepees

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a small business owner, I know the challenges and rewards of running your own business. It takes dedication, hard work, and a passion for what you do. When I started 6 years ago I was one of the first companies in Houston doing sleepovers, what set us apart from others is the attention we put into details, our originality, creativity. When you give us the space to set up a party is like a blank canvas ready to be painted, clients give the ideas they have in mind, we put them together and we deliver magical celebrations.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I have a friend visiting I will take her for a walk at the museum district, visit Herman Park, then lunch at bloom & bee in the Post Oak Hotel, then some shopping at the River Oaks District, then head for some drinks, dinner and dancing at Ciel

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband Gustavo for supporting me with this crazy idea
