We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcus Bridgewater and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marcus, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Drawing on the experiences of my life and the lessons I learned from them, the thought process behind starting my business was creating a conduit for income in the modern world while providing a service that is meaningful and uplifting to my community and environment. In short, my thought process was to create a business that betters my life while bettering the lives of others.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Choice Forward is a company focused on improving mental health, physical fitness, and spiritual awareness. Through consultations, workshops, presentations, seminars, and more, we inspire, motive, and educate people on how to better wellbeing, build stronger communities, and foster healthier environments. What sets us apart from others who do the same is we are using a philosophy that has been tested time and time again, and met with success. I created this philosophy from overcoming the struggles in my life. Getting to this place of recognition and respect has not been easy and was only possible through experimenting, failing, and trying again. The challenge of marketing is a real one in the modern age, even with social media. To minimize that challenge, our team stayed in contact with people who utilized social media regularly. After learning what we could, we incorporated the ideas into our experimental strategy until we found success. None of this could have happened without the input from people who saw potential in us. We are trying to bring kindness, patience, and positivity to the world.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a simple man: Give me some good tacos and some plants to look at, and I’ll be happy. I would take my friend to Tacos Ana, a taco truck in the Heights, and follow that up with a visit to Buchanan’s Native Plants. Maybe we’d stop by the Houston Farmer’s Market to see what fruit is available.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to Dana, my partner in everything. Truly couldn’t do this without her. I wouldn’t want to either.
