We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcus Kreativekingmarco Guillory and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marcus, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from small town called Lake Charles,La. The city that’s known for Casinos, good people, and good food. I grew up with a mother who instilled in us we may not have all we want but we will always have what we need. So I didn’t have name brand clothes, shoes etc. We lived in the projects, but my mom worked hard to keep me and my brothers out the streets. Watching her never stop working and never make excuses gave me my work ethic and my grind. Every job I ever had I took pride in not letting anybody outwork me. That’s the drive I took into working for myself. Material things are popularity never been my goal. Working towards generational wealth is my main goal.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I had three heart surgeries in a matter of 3 years from 2018-2020. When you facing death your life really does flash before your eyes, and each year I was at my 9-5 my life was wasting away although I was making good money I felt I wasn’t living in my purpose. So a blessing came in 2020 in form of a pandemic. While the world was lockdown it gave me a chance to set myself free. I had my last surgery and was on medical leave during covid lockdown. At this time my friends invited me to a night out at the Grand Tuscany Hotel. This hotel was a hidden gem , like a Vegas resort right in the middle of Houston. I was saying to myself how doesn’t anybody know about this place. So I went back a few times connected with the event organizers there at the time and I told them that I had a vision that can take this place to the next level. A lightbulb flashed in my head. The whole city was locked down accept this hotel. So I started KreativekingzLLC as a promotion company. I instantly made merchandise, hired staff, and went to start promoting. I eventually connected with the owner of the hotel and we vibed instantly. So he gave me more freedom to use the hotel weekly to hold events there. Again no other place was open so I had the only events going on in the city during lockdown, so my brand grew so fast in a matter of months. Before I knew it I was getting calls from different venues around the city to come and promote at their venue. Here I am a Louisiana country boy in the big city of Houston, where hardly anybody knew me. Straight off the operating table in 2020 to making major moves. Throwing hotel pool parties in 2020, to bringing 50 Cent Tycoon Weekend to that hotel and having over 70 celebrities in one place at one time for a whole weekend. I’ve appeared in a movie that was filmed in Houston, and planning on appearing in more this year. I have a podcast, brand ambassador for multiple brands, and growing in becoming a content creator.
So I tell people, my KreativeKingz brand means the world to me, it’s more than just a name, it’s more than just a logo. It represents my liberation, freedom, dignity, and most of all my own creation. So my thought process for my business consistently evolves, I’m always raising the bar, and setting no limits to what I can do.
I love helping new venue owners turn their vision into reality!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to A’dor Kitchen for the best crawfish in town. Then I would take them to Lost and Found for happy hours. Then go to Bar Rosa to turn up at night. Have to fit in bourbon st. Daiquiris somewhere in the week.
James Harden Restaurant Thirteen is one of my favorites.
Nightlife, Space Houston, Bar5015, prospect park, Quotes Willowbrook.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First my mother Carolyn Guillory deserves a lot of the credit. She’s been my number 1 Supporter and always keeps me grounded and motivated.. Second My Uncle Harold Guillory, he took as teen with him when he was promoting, and running clubs, taught me the game and gave me the keys to success that I still use today.
Last but certainly not least Mr.. Syed Hassan owner of the Grand Tuscany Hotel. He gave me an opportunity that changed my life, I wouldn’t be where I’m at in my business if it wasn’t for him taking me under his wing and pushing me to be more than a promoter and being more about business. He elevated and challenged me constantly, and I will forever be grateful to what he has done for me!
