We had the good fortune of connecting with Margie Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Margie , is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
My public relations business is focused on storytelling. The public loves a good, compelling story to capture the attention of an event, an organization, or a business that is relatable. The success of Taylorized PR is the ability to be authentic, physically active in the community, and cultivating genuine relationships that last.
What should our readers know about your business?
Every person has a unique story to tell and Taylorized PR helps to tell others “their” story. It is important to have a trusted relationship with every one of my clients so they feel safe, confident, and valued. When a person feels safe and valued, communication increases with a commitment to be honest. Public relations narrates the story with emotions that attract human interest. Although I had 16 years experience with local nonprofits in marketing and development- creating content, events, social media, and relationship marketing, I was unsure if I would be successful on my own. I jumped in with both feet in 2014, and Taylorized PR has steadily increased visibility and profitability every year. It is important to try new things and take a risk. I have been a weekly radio host since 2016 promoting local events, nonprofits, and businesses, a weekly columnist for the local newspaper since 2017, and was a writer for a magazine writing 40 articles in a year. If you don’t try something new in your business you will not only get stagnant and your competition will pass you by, but you just don’t know what you can really do unless you expand your reach. Taylorized PR is my brand and way of “Tayloring my business to Yours!”
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Boating on Lake Conroe is fun in the summer months finishing off with a meal in either Downtown Conroe at The Red Brick Tavern for the Best Hamburger around with a craft bear, or Citizen’s Grill for authentic Chicken Fried Steak with japaleno cream gravy, peppered green beans, and jalapeno cream corn with New Orleans Bread Pudding for dessert. I would definitely meet up with my oldest son, Tim Lenz and wife Valerie since they live in Houston and know all the interesting places to eat, play, and have a memorable good time. While in Houston, I would suggest going to Discovery Green to take in the culture, an event, and sit and watch the sunset. A concert at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion after a bike ride around The Woodlands Waterway is not to miss! And it is always fun to ride bikes on the Seawall in Galveston! Stop for drinks and food anywhere along the way. Most places are fun with the right people.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I believe success is based on relationships-both professional and personal. Most of my referrals and new relationships can be credited back through membership in the local Chambers of Commerce. As a business Taylorized PR is a member of The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce, Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce, and the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.
