We had the good fortune of connecting with Maribel Seets and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maribel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For me basically the “be your own boss”phrase started it all for me. Mainly because I have young children and I want to be able to be available for them when they need me either for medical reasons or any other things that I could have come up they are my number one priority so being able to create my own schedule has really helped me so much to be there for them as well as my husband and family. But along with that I really enjoy helping other people enhance their natural beauty with the services I provide and possibly even help other people start their own career teaching them my skills.
What should our readers know about your business?
As an esthetician I provide various services and in my area specifically there is not many estheticians that I know about so it’s always nice to have someone local be able to perform the things that you would have to drive into a bigger city to get done. The key to growing is being consistent it’s definitely not easy and you can easily get burnt out but you just have to keep trying new things or even take a break but don’t give up. A very important lesson I’ve learned has been to be your own person and stop comparing yourself to other people it’s not going to get you anywhere and you’re only going to bring negativity to yourself. The main thing I would like to tell people is don’t give up it might get harder before it gets easier but it’s always worth it at the end.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In my little city there’s honestly not a whole lot to do but I would just say try out the drinks at our local Mexican restaurants and shop at the boutiques because they have some cute things. Best time to come around is in July during our Watermelon Festival when there’s a lot of vendors out and lots of goodies to shop for as well as the carnival for the kids to enjoy.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes definitely my husband even though he was a little skeptical at the beginning and might still sometimes be he is still my biggest supporter in this whole journey and was the person that pushed me to jump into it full-time because he knew I was a little scared to leave my corporate job. So I am definitely very thankful of him for never letting me give up or push me to go get a different job.
