We had the good fortune of connecting with Marina Tamez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marina, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always been very creative. I feel I was born with just about all of the artistic genes. Seriously, when it comes to anything creative, I honestly feel I ace it all, whether it’s painting, decorating, baking, interior decorating, hairstyling, and of course cosmetically enhancing brows with permanent makeup. As a kid, I wanted to do it all.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I do for a living is an obsession for me. The transformations that I create with enhancing people’s eyebrows is beyond what they expect. I’ve taken a couple of different courses in both Microblading and micro shading and have developed my own take in what I feel is best and most natural for each person. I’ve learned early on that when it comes to Microblading, as an artist, I need to take into account and envision what these people’s brows will look like once they’re healed. This is super important because I don’t see this half of the time with other work out there. Because of this, I’ve had a lot of corrections, which I’m extremely proud of the outcomes, and have had very happy clients walk out the door. At the end of the day, as an artist, my very cliche motto is, less is more.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend wanted a week long hang out in the city, first thing we would do is take a drive out to the wineries in Wimberly, Tx. They’re so beautiful and have amazing wines and food. My favorite are Wimberly Valley Winery and Limestone Terrace Vineyard. We’d check out Katy Asia Town, because you can’t go wrong with anything at all there. From Korean fried wings, to ramen, street Malaysian food, and all kinds of delicious Asian desserts. We’d for sure check out the spa at Post Oak Hotel, and then shop and hang out in the Montrose area.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are a lot of people who deserve a huge shout out to when it comes to my success, which is still growing. First off, God, for He is who instilled my artistic brain and devotion to perfection.
My family who has always cheered me on and were also my models when I needed them to practice or perfect my skills in Microblading and all my hair services.
My husband who has always supported me and my steer of the moment business decisions, which thankfully, have always worked out.
And of course, my mentors, too many, and business partner, Yolanda, who have also helped educate and push each other up with growing our businesses.
