We had the good fortune of connecting with Mariqua Dew and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mariqua, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
I want to be financially stable & put my children through college of course. But I want to build my brand into something bigger than an online store. I want to have filled the employment gap for new college graduates & single mothers.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We value relatability, transparency, being unapologetic. We also offer a custom apparel line that allows our customers to be more hands on. At The Mariqua D’Shay Collection our mission is to help individuals particularly boss mom or boss women feel confident with who they truly are. We want our customers feel that its ok not to the mom society pressures us to be. They’re still human what they consider their best is be good enough.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Food – Breakfast Klub, Turkey Leg Hunt, LA Crawfish, Soul food Vegan, Chemistry Fun/Hangout/Drinks – FAO(adult arcade & bar), The Address(nightclub), Pinstripes(bowling & bar), Top Golf, Roots(self served wine bar) The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First & foremost want to shout out God. He has made everything I’ve done possible & allows me to wake up & do the things that I do. Then I would like to thank my mother & Ganny for being supportive. My mentor Lilly for challenging me. Also showing me what’s possible if I put in the work. My business coach Jance for being so down to earth, relatable, & personable. She’s always dropping gems for anyone who’s willing to listen & apply them. Her story is inspiring because I’ve watched since she was working for someone else’s boutique to starting & growing her own. She shows how an ordinary girl can grow into a powerful business women aiming to take over the world. Most of the things I’ve applied to my business came from Jance.
