We had the good fortune of connecting with Marquita Chanel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marquita, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from St. Petersburg, FL and I moved to Houston in 2016 after visiting and falling in love with the city. When I was a senior in high school my mother passed away suddenly, and I found myself on a long journey of healing and self-discovery. While living here I was able to overcome many things that was holding me back from embracing my talents and abilities.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’ve always loved baking and I had dabbled here and there in the past, but it was during the beginning of the pandemic that I started to take my baking a little more seriously. Being inside so much allowed me to be creative with making cookies and brownies. I would post the things that I was making on social media and eventually people were asking if they could buy them. This is how PinchMeTwice Sweets & Treats was born.

What sets PinchMeTwice apart is that we have a rotating menu. You never know what cookie flavor I am going to come up with next. The progress I’ve made so far is by being consistent and just being myself. I have also let my past failed business ventures teach me what to do and what not to do. It has not been easy, I have many moments where I doubt myself.

I am proud that I have been able to take something that I’m passionate about, and make people happy everyday. I love seeing the joy on someone’s face when they try one of my cookies. I want the world to make room for PinchMeTwice Sweets & Treats because we have a lot more in store.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever someone I know visits I ask them what their favorite cuisine is and then I take them to the best spot I know. Houston has so many great restaurants it’s hard to choose. I also take them for a ride downtown to see the spectacular buildings and views, then a trip to Buffalo Bayou or Hermann Park. Houston has so many beautiful parks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to my partner in crime Brandon…he believed in me when no one else did and invested in my business from day one.
