We had the good fortune of connecting with Marquita McCoy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marquita, what do you attribute your success to?
While I love that my customers see amazing results from my products – I’m just as enthusiastic about the integrity, relatedness and affinity that I share with them. When my customers have questions – I do my best to answer them via social media in the comments or direct messages and also through email. I pride myself on being a source of information and knowledge that allows my customers and onlookers to feel comfortable enough to reach out to me regarding their most insecure skin concerns. Sometimes their concerns stem much deeper than skin – and to be able to simply lend an ear is everything for me. Success to me goes well beyond a customer spending their money with you. For me it’s about building genuine relationships that will last.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m proud that I’ve been able to restore and rejuvenate both the skin and emotional state of thousands of individuals with simple, yet powerful, natural skincare products. My products have proven to be effective and also affordable which opens the door for those to achieve health skin without breaking the bank. The road to success has been a curvy one with speed bumps, forks in the road, and steep cliffs. But my goal and focus has always been to SERVE my people. And when I say serve I mean to cater to their very specific needs. If I don’t have an answer – I’ll find one. If I don’t sell a certain product – I’ll refer them to someone who does. If I don’t think my product would work for them – I’ll tell them that. My brand was built from my love of all things natural and organic. I originally created a product for myself for puffy eyes and soon began to market it to others because it WORKED and I knew there was a need. But then when I really started to listen to people talk about their skin needs, I knew there was much work to be done. And the company grew from there. From the grass roots is where it all comes.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d invite them to check out our museum district, art murals downtown, Discovery Green or Miller Outdoor Theatre, or catch a play.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d be remiss not to acknowledge my fellow business buddy, Kristen Malone of Bella Pelle Goods. She was one of the first people to encourage me in my entrepreneurial journey. In fact, when I was totally unsure if I was fit for this industry, she allowed me to share a table with her at one of our local vendor fairs where I made my very first sell. It’s been upwards and onward since then.
