We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary Giovinale and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mary, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe the most important factor that helped me to succeed is to leave the fear behind. Me, as many of you, feel fearful and doubtful when is time to start a new project…I think that is part of the process; however, if we allow that fear to hold us back then we won’t really see results. One practice that helps me very much every time I am in that situation is to do whatever is scaring me the most first! I put all my heart, effort and dedication into that task and get it out of my way! Once I see I can achieve my goal that boosts my confidence and fuels me to keep pursuing more challenging goals.

Also, in Real Estate my brand is myself, therefore is very important to me to show genuinely who I am and what my values are, I can say that is definitively an important part of my success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am Real Estate Agent in the Greater Houston Area; I can say that my biggest strength, which I apply to both my personal and professional life, is being Authentic and Empathic, this allows me to connect deep and real with my family, friends and clients.

I have built my brand based on who I am and of course one of the many challenges I found was to make myself vulnerable, however I feel that when people is able to see your human side is more willing to trust you; another big challenge of course was fear to fail, and my little secret for that is to get prepared and work hard towards your goal (I usually start by what scares me the most so I can get it out of my way:-).

It took me several years to make my decision to quit my corporate job and start doing full time real estate, but now I realized that all that experience shaped me stronger to give my clients now the best real estate service and advice. My biggest lesson learned in this process is that it does not matter when you start, is the love and passion that you put on what you do what makes you successful.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being originally from Venezuela I am constantly receiving family and friends from overseas and I am always looking for some new and cool places to show them…here is a list of my favorite Houston spots:

– The Graffiti Walls at Downtown
– The Water Wall and Galleria Shopping Center
– The Museums of Arts Fine and Natural Science
– The Menil Collection
– Lunch at Tiny Box
– Walk through Discover Green Park
– Walk the little shops around The Heights and have lunch in Savoir
– Visit to the Nasa Space Center
– Visit to Kemah Board Walk
– Brisket at Killen’s Barbecue
– If we have time I wouldn’t miss; Secret Garden, Coltivare, State of Grace and Crepes at Sweet Paris!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are definitively many people that I owe so much of my success! Of course, the foundation is Papa Dios (our God) who blesses me immensely everyday…then my mom and dad who always taught me to chase my dreams and work hard but never forgetting who I am neither losing my smile! My husband and daughters who are my biggest fans and are always cheering for me… and last but not least, my mentor and now friend Catherine Wintz who guided me hand by hand until I was able to run by myself!
