We had the good fortune of connecting with Maureen Gibbons and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maureen, what do you attribute your success to?
Over time my brand has grown from two “separate” ventures into one brand. I realized that both sides of the coin, patients and healthcare professionals, need similar information.
I founded a lifestyle medicine practice called Active Medical Solutions with a mission to make high level health and wellness readily available at a reasonable price with unparalleled support. As I taught my own providers and staff, I realized I couldn’t stop there and founded Active Telehealth Consulting where we guide acute care professionals in carving their own paths to experience peace, freedom and income replacement.
In teaching both groups, I realized that service must always be the foundation of my brand as “Doctor Moe”. In taking care of themselves, providers and staff are then able to take better care of their patients.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am extremely grateful and thrilled to finally fulfill my longtime dream of becoming a professional coach. Thanks to the unwavering support of my AMS providers, I have the opportunity to become a trusted copilot to my patients. Moreover, I am truly blessed with the opportunity to assist other healthcare professionals in their journey. My aspiration to be a life coach predates the widespread recognition of this profession. I started my professional career as a Certified Athletic Trainer with a passion for nutrition and wellness, which shaped what activities accompanied my traditional studies in medical school.
Throughout my Emergency Medicine residency and my years as an overnight attending in a busy trauma center, my goals have always spanned caring not only for the patient but for my coworkers. During that time, I augmented my traditional employment and education with triathlon coaching and competition, becoming a certified sports nutritionist and writing, starting with my book Happy First: How to Win Life in the Moment at Home, at Work, at the Gym, and Even in the Kitchen. As I embark on my next book and pursue board certification in lifestyle medicine, I can’t help but feel that my career path has come full circle, closely aligning with my personal passions.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Although I love a good concert or ball game in Houston, the majority of my time is spent in The Woodlands, enjoying everything our township has to offer. Big-name performances at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion can’t be missed. The award-winning run course of Ironman Texas is the home of many walks and runs along the waterway. The newer area of Hughes Landing is also a favorite outside venue for activity. Our restaurants in The Woodlands, like Postino, Black Walnut and Bellagreen are favorite business and recreational meeting places. Lastly, a visit to VillaSport to get in a swim or lift with friends is a regular occurrence!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who have influenced my current success that it makes it hard to choose one shoutout. Knowing that the support of my family is implied as the most critical, I’d like to recognize my business coaches, Brian and Gabrielle Bosché of the Purpose Company and Dan Martell and his Buy Back Your Time book. I started with the Purpose Company who frankly catapulted my ability to move forward with a rapidly expanding medical practice. After over a year with them, I invested in Dan Martell’s coaching program after already starting to implementing the principles in his book. The synergy of the two has been incredible. As a visionary, it is sometimes difficult for me to stay on track and make meaningful change. They both focus on systems and have actionable information I use daily in growing my brand and my businesses.
