We had the good fortune of connecting with Maureen “Mo” Cooper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maureen, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The Key to My Success: Empowering People to Take Ownership of Their Health
When I started my journey as a wellness coach, I knew one thing for sure—helping people lose weight was never just about the food. It’s about empowerment, self-worth, and creating a life where health feels effortless.
And I know this because I’ve been there.
For years, I put myself last. Raising a family, juggling responsibilities, and never once stopping to ask, What about me? I wasn’t consistently exercising until I was 39 (if Stroller Fit counts!), and I didn’t think about what I was putting in my body until I was in my 40s! I felt overwhelmed, stuck, and unsure if I could ever feel strong, confident, or truly at home in my own skin again. I was just running from one distraction to the next.
in 2009 I received a video game for Wii that changed my life: EA Sports Personal Trainer. I wanted to get into better shape so I found time to start taking care of me. So, I took one small step. Then another. One workout. One better meal. One purposeful choice. Over time, those small acts of self-care led to something bigger, and I lost 65 pounds—and have kept it off for over 15 years.
But the biggest transformation wasn’t just in my body—it was in my mindset. As I started treating myself with care and respect, my entire perspective shifted. I stopped chasing quick fixes and focusing solely outside myself and started building a lifestyle that felt good, that felt real, and that fit into my actual life.
That’s why the most important factor behind my success—and the success of my brand—is this:
🔹 Helping people see their own strengths.
🔹 Shifting their mindset from restriction to freedom.
🔹 Guiding them to take ownership of their health in a way that lasts a lifetime.
The women I work with come to me frustrated, feeling like they’ve tried everything. Diets. Workouts. Quick fixes. But the real transformation happens when they stop looking for another plan and start learning how to trust themselves.
My success isn’t just about weight loss—it’s about helping people reclaim their confidence, their power, and their ability to create a body and life they love. Because once they see it? They never go back.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Please tell us more about your business.
Mo Mind Body Soul, LLC was born from a moment of clarity while driving home one night. As I made the sign of the cross—”The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit”—I realized how closely it aligned with the mind, body, and spirit. It struck me that true health isn’t just about exercise, nutrition, or mindset alone—it’s the combination of all three.
Already a personal trainer, I knew I needed to deepen my knowledge of nutrition. When I found Precision Nutrition, their whole-person approach to weight loss and health resonated perfectly with my mission. From there, I created a course (which I’ll be relaunching this spring), and that naturally evolved into my group coaching program. Now, I help women—just like I once was—who feel lost, frustrated, and stuck in a cycle of putting themselves last, finally take control of their health without guilt.
What sets you apart from others?
What makes my coaching unique is that I’ve mastered the balance between group coaching and individual needs. My clients aren’t just another number in a program—they’re part of a community of trust and results. These are women who have tried every quick fix, only to end up back where they started (or worse). With my guidance, they break free from the weight loss roller coaster by understanding why they keep repeating the cycle.
I help them shift their mindset to treat their mind, body, and soul with the same care and love they would a child or a precious loved one. When that shift happens, taking care of their health becomes easier—without the guilt.
What are you most proud of or excited about?
I’m most proud that I practice what I preach. The very principles I teach—overcoming toxic mindsets, breaking limiting beliefs, and stepping into a healthier, happier life—are the same ones that transformed my own journey. I also had the support of amazing friends, family, and mentors along the way, and now I get to pay that forward by helping other women do the same.
How did you get to where you are today business-wise? Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
Absolutely not easy! It took a lot of trial and error, hiring great coaches (and unfortunately, some not-so-great ones), and learning to be more discerning in who I trust for my professional growth—just like I teach my clients to be selective with their own health and wellness.
When I first launched my group coaching program, I ran a 3-month beta group with clients who had taken my course. They helped me refine the program, work out the kinks, and prove its effectiveness. Many of them are still with me today in the paid program!
I overcame challenges by always leading with service. I consistently ask myself, How will this benefit my client? That mindset keeps me focused and allows me to build trust with my clients, who know I genuinely have their best interests at heart.
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
Consistency and the right mindset (and heartset) are key. The right energy attracts the right people.
Use time wisely and plan ahead. I teach my clients the same principle—being intentional with time leads to success.
Growth never stops. Continuing my own journey of personal development makes me a more empathetic and effective coach.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Despite all the confusing messages out there—despite all the failed diets, programs, and weight loss attempts—your best health is closer than you think!
My genius and my brand is in simplicity. I cut through all the noise and confusion, helping women get to the heart of why they want to lose weight, break free from self-sabotaging beliefs (many don’t even realize they have them!), and finally achieve lasting results in their mind, body, and soul. It’s not about showing up perfectly; it’s just about showing up!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Love this! If my best friend were visiting, I’d make sure they had the best time exploring the incredible sights, eats, and experiences that Houston and the surrounding areas have to offer. Here’s how we’d spend the week:
Day 1: Houston’s Hidden Gems & Downtown Vibes
Start the day with a perfectly crafted coffee from Java Owl, a cozy local favorite.
Head downtown to the Buffalo Bayou Park Cisterns for a sound bath meditation—a surreal, one-of-a-kind experience in an underground reservoir.
Stroll through Discovery Green and the Museum District, stopping at the Museum of Fine Arts or the Houston Museum of Natural Science (because who doesn’t love dinosaurs and gemstones?).
Sushi for dinner at Tokyo Bowl, a hidden gem for fresh, delicious sushi.
Day 2: Space City Exploration & Bayou Adventures
Start with a trip to NASA’s Johnson Space Center, where we’d geek out over the Saturn V Rocket, mission control, and the Space Shuttle Independence.
Grab lunch at Hyde Park, where the food is always on point.
Spend the afternoon kayaking on Buffalo Bayou, paddling through the heart of Houston while soaking in the skyline views.
Wind down with craft beer and amazing food at Nobi Public House in Clear Lake.
Day 3: Coastal Escape to Galveston
Drive down to Galveston Island, but skip the touristy parts and head to the quieter beaches further down the coast.
Rent bikes and cruise along the Seawall, or check out the charming historic district of The Strand.
Fresh seafood dinner at Gaido’s, a Galveston institution since 1911.
Day 4: Day Trip to Round Top & Small-Town Texas Charm
Hit the road early for Round Top, a charming town known for antique shopping and small-town magic.
Stop at Royers Pie Haven for an unforgettable slice of pie.
Grab a shrimp po’boy at Royers Café, a must for comfort food lovers.
Head back to Houston and relax with a nightcap at a local speakeasy-style bar like Anvil Bar & Refuge.
Day 5: Austin Adventures
Road trip to Austin for a day of live music and great food!
Brunch at Elizabeth Street Café (for amazing pastries and Vietnamese fusion).
Walk around South Congress for unique shops and street art.
Hit up 6th Street for live music and dancing.
Late-night stop at Voodoo Doughnut for a sugar fix before heading back.
Day 6: Hill Country Relaxation – Fredericksburg & Tubing
Drive to Fredericksburg, a picturesque town in Texas Hill Country.
Spend the morning wine tasting at local vineyards.
Head to the Comal River or Guadalupe River for tubing (summer must-do!).
Grab some authentic German food at Otto’s in Fredericksburg before heading back.
Day 7: San Antonio & Bastrop for the Perfect Finale
Visit San Antonio, strolling along the beautiful River Walk and stopping by the historic Alamo.
Head to Bastrop for some boutique shopping and the best hotdogs at Maxine’s Café & Bakery (a must-visit local spot!).
If it’s summer, we’d stop by Luling, Texas for the Watermelon Thump Festival and some of the best barbecue in the state at City Market.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Success is never a solo journey, and I owe a huge shoutout to Jon and Kat Jeffrey, the powerhouse duo behind Dark Wolf Fitness. Their fitness program has been a cornerstone of my strength and endurance over the past five years, but their impact goes far beyond workouts. Their mentorship, support, and friendship have played a pivotal role in my personal growth—not just as a coach, but as a person.
Jon, a NASM-certified coach, has built a bootcamp-style program for all fitness levels, designed to help people succeed at their own pace while encouraging them to push past their own limits. It’s not one of those extreme, tire-flipping bootcamps—Jon takes a systematic, whole-body approach that delivers visible, lasting results. His focus is on smart, progressive training that meets you where you are and helps you build strength, endurance, and confidence over time.
Jon and Kat lead with integrity and passion, creating a community that truly empowers people to become their strongest selves.
