We had the good fortune of connecting with Maurice “DJ MOMO” Gray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maurice “DJ MOMO”, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in Saint Louis, MO, and now relocated to Dallas, Texas. I come from a large family and watch multiple siblings do different things in life and gave me options on what life was about. I’ve not proud of everything that I did in life but it taught me life lessons to get me where I am today. My mother and father was a great impact on who I am today. To keep me from the streets my parents made Church and God and priority in my life. I learn music from a early age of about 4 years playing multiple instruments. Piano became the instrument of choice and became a gospel musician till today. I became a DJ to give the people the same version of me as a gospel musician but as a versatile DJ. The DJ life of “DJ MOMO” came at a late stage in life because music is not my lifestyle its my life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have a IT (Information Technology) background in Computer Information Systems with an emphasis is Computer Security. I have always been employed since the age 15. I have always been in customer service jobs as well as IT. I always love communicating with others so customer service seem to be my way of life but IT jobs have been the one that pays the bills. With my career in IT, but having the love of Djing it separates me from other DJs. I have the IT background to understand the virtual world that we are currently moving too and putting it together with the DJ world. I’m able to help and teach others about technology that will help you improve your work or your craft. Enjoy every second you are able to breathe. I just want the world to know “You can always make money but you can’t get back time”.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
