We had the good fortune of connecting with Maxwell Linden and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maxwell, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Credit/debit cards and advanced payment methods are accepted everywhere and aren’t going anywhere so I believe the payments industry is a great place to be. With that being said, this industry is flooded with similarities between groups and so I really wanted to provide something diffferent. Our approach was bringing media to payments. Hence our name, we provide omnichannel pos software and promotional opportunities for merchants as well as family-like support.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I truly believe what sets us apart from others is our family-like approach. I have heard far too many times in this industry customers having nightmares with their providers in regards to communication and SLAs and it is our goal and purpose to make every single customer feel like they are of the utmost importance to MPG, because they are! No matter the size or revenue, every customer should receive 24/7 text, call, or email communication and should never wait on a 1-800 call.
I am most excited about how MPG will adapt to the industry evolution down the line. We have already seen cryptocurrency and different advanced payment methods (APMs) start to become popular at the point of sale and quickly brought these solutions into our fleet of accepted payment methods. With technology advancements such as AI and eye and palm-pay, the future of payments is that of the wild-wild west, but MPG will be ready!
Getting to where I am today professionally was not easy. Growing up I struggled with ADHD which made studying and later on, working, very difficult at times. It still does, but I’ve learned how to cope with it and use it to my advantage!
Another giant hurdle was the influence of COVID-19 on our business. Being founded in 2020 was an extremely volatile time to launch but we stayed strong and aimed to provide our customer base with the technology and support to navigate through the pandemic and not just survive but succeed!
I want to the world to know that Media Payments Group is truly here to change the landscape of the payments industry. With the amount of industry experience within our organization, we’ve seen it all, we’ve studied it, and we are here to make an everlasting impact on the merchant industry. One merchant at a time. Small or large. Mpg will help.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The first thing we would do is grab sushi at UCHI!
Follow that up with either a Rockets, Astros or Texans game depending on the time of year.
The next day we would have brunch at Squabble and spend the day on the golf course at Memorial Park.
Other activities that week would be to eat at Amrina and Tris in the Woodlands,go to Memorial Park, the River Oaks Shopping Center and check out the Heights!
Houston has so much to offer. From Galveston to the Woodlands, the amount of space you have to cover in Harris County needs a week long trip!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a ginormous shout-out to my Father, Todd Linden (Dad)!
My Dad has been in the payments industry since the early 90’s and has been uber-successful at what he does.
He taught me a lot about the industry growing up without me even knowing it. This provided me with the built-in confidence I need when talking to clients and associates in the industry.
I look up to him so much in all aspects of life and am extremely grateful for all of his knowledge and wisdom.
