We had the good fortune of connecting with Mayra Yanez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mayra, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
The reason behind my career of choice is the Art. The Art that is created on each Individual, while using a variety of pigmented colors and hot tools. When I first take a look at my clients they come in different shapes, different shades, and or having unique features; making them a beautiful piece of Art . When I am in my zone of concentration my clients become my canvas, and I am their painter, every stroke of my brush is gently and humbly applied; therefore bringing life into their skin and enhancing their beauty. I love what I do and my passion grows deeply after seeing my clients reactions. It gives me satisfaction and honor to be able to be apart of their special day.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I always tell people if I had a chance to write a book about my life, It would be a novel with endless chapters. I have been through so much in life, but I think that going thorough all those hardships is what pushes me to be more successful. I believe in Gods plans; I’ve learned that he does not make you ordinary but extraordinary. He never limits you, so never set a limit to your success. I believe what sets me apart from others is my beliefs in God and everything I been through. I know that everyone has surpassed different hardships in life but I think is what you make of those obstacles, is what molds you to be stronger and wiser. I learned so much through out the years, that managing a business is never easy, especially being in a competitive industry. The beauty industry is growing rapidly, so it comes down to hustling and promoting everyday. Your numbers are important, so being flexible and affordable is essential. You must always be open to learning new techniques and trends, so never have a limit to what you can do or offer in your services. Never say never or that you can’t do it, growth doesn’t come easy but practice makes perfect. I can honestly say that I’m truly proud of my business and how much it has grown, success doesn’t come easy but always have faith, and trust in him for he knows the plans he has for you. I currently have a couple of things in the works, but all I can say is that I’m expanding, I have partnered up with another free lance artist, and have successfully made a name for our selves. We are the Pink Ladies Of Texas, we still have a lot of work to do, but I know that everything will go smoothly and successful. Verse 29;11 Jeremiah ” For I know the plans I have for you ” Declares the Lord, ” Plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a Future”…
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
There is so many things to do in Houston and to visit. My favorite places would be multiculturalism locations such as the Japanese Garden, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, and the Rosemont Bridge. Other places to venture out would be The Buscuit Paint Wall, The color Factory and the famous art Murals in Houston. Best brunch location or areas to hang out at would be The Present Company, Texas shaped lazy river, The Kitchen at The Dunlavy and the Truck Yard Houston.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My greatest support and encouragement throughout my success has been God. I wouldn’t be where I am now if i didn’t have him to uplift me in many situations that I have came across. In words of mentor-ship I would like to give a huge shout out to one of my good friends, she was a good teacher and what we called a fisherman, her name is Lizbeth. I remember when I first started working at Visible Changes I would follow her around, to learn her ways of doing color and hairstyles. I will always be grateful to her for pushing me and always encouraging my business. Another person I would like to give a huge shout out would be my dear husband. He always pushes me to succeed not only in this profession but in my long term goals. He is my rock and my motivation to seek for more and never less. There is so much thanks to give to so many people; but just know this, I will always be grateful and thankful to all of you.
