We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Authenticity and consistency are probably the two biggest factors in how the brand has grown. People want to feel connected to the people they’re supporting, and the best way to make those connections is to be yourself and say the things you’re feeling. I started putting phrases and ideas in the sticker designs that were a bit off-beat, but they’re the ones that people gravitate towards the most, because they’re not trying to fit into someone else’s rules.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been a wedding and portrait photographer for years, but it kind of took a back seat with the pandemic. Weddings were getting cancelled, and I really didn’t feel right trying to market myself to go out into the wild with people and take their pictures when we were all supposed to be quarantining. I had been wanting to try out designing stickers for water bottles, laptops, cars, all the places, really.. and the time in isolation seemed like the perfect opportunity to try.
I wouldn’t say I’m an optimist, so the sunshiney upbeat vibes of other designs just aren’t my thing. I’ve really made an effort through all of the designs to keep them down-to-earth in that aspect. There’s one that is a tissue box with “they can’t all be good days” and that is one of the most popular. It’s good to know people can relate. We’re not afraid of printing curse words over here, so there may be a sprinkle of that. Like a lot of it. Giant handfuls.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
McGovern Centennial Gardens is hands down one of my favorite places to walk around. A must-have breakfast spot is Vegan Donuts and Gelato in West Houston and Cascabel in Spring Branch for literally any meal.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My friends are the real MVPs – they’ve put up with all of my drafts of designs showing up in their messages for months and they’re the biggest supporters.
