We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Pompa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melissa, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My work-life balance has transformed significantly over time, especially after becoming a parent to three wonderful children. Rather than putting a halt to my professional endeavors, I’ve adapted by implementing efficient systems and seeking assistance from dedicated team members, such as assistants and transaction coordinators. Initially, juggling the demands of work and family felt overwhelming. However, I quickly learned the importance of delegation. Entrusting tasks to capable assistants and transaction coordinators has allowed me to concentrate on critical responsibilities while ensuring that essential tasks are managed effectively.
Additionally, I discovered the power of time blocking, which has been instrumental in maintaining a healthy work-life balance. By allocating specific time slots for various tasks and commitments, I’ve been able to prioritize both my professional responsibilities and personal obligations, ensuring that each receives the attention it deserves.
Through these adjustments, I’ve attained a more sustainable work-life equilibrium. While my dedication to my career remains steadfast, I’ve become adept at prioritizing quality time with my family and investing in self-care. This holistic approach has empowered me to flourish both personally and professionally, finding fulfillment in every facet of my life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have been a realtor for 9 years full time since day one. What sets me apart & what I am excited about would be my negotiating skills. I am double certified in negotiations. I have my Master Certified Negotiation Expert designation, as well as my Real Estate Negation Expert designation. I enjoy the feeling of getting my clients the best deal possible. Has it been easy all 9 years? No. I have come across challenges in life. I had 3 kids along the way, I have a 4 yr old, a 2yr old, & a 4-month-old. Us who are mothers know how challenging it is having 3 small back-to-back kiddos, while also running a business. However, I learned how to manage my time to make sure I spend time with my family as they are my number one priority! I learned how to leverage my time by getting assistants, transaction coordinators, & having a system in place, that way my business stays great! Another challenge was losing my father 2 years ago who was also my biggest, BIGGEST supporters! Instead of giving up, & shutting down, I changed my mentality & said I would continue to do better, be better & make him proud! I have learned how to overcome challenges by being strong minded & focusing on the positive. I am passionate about my business, passionate about helping people, about investing, & about growing!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One thing about living in Houston, is that we have so many amazing places to go to, so many amazing restaurants! It is hard to pick and choose a specific place. However, I would take advantage of her visit and do something different each day! Start by having some delicious breakfast, maybe go to Cucharita one of those days (one of my latest favorite breakfast restaurants located in midtown that have delicious food & great customer service). Go to the Galleria right after and do some shopping! That is always fun! In the evening, we would probably go to the Improv if there’s a comedy show going on. I love going there! I love to relax, enjoy a drink, & laugh at some good comedy. Another day I would take us to Eclipse Massage & spa located in Deer Park, TX to get a massage! They are amazing & I feel like getting a massage is always a must when someone is in vacation! I would also probably take us to my sister’s hair salon at Embellish hair studio, get our hair done, feel good & go out for some delicious dinner right after! Few of the restaurants we would go to might be B&B Butchers, they have some delicious steaks as well as Eddie V’s, Toro Toro, Mastros Steakhouse, & Vic & Anthony’s. If my best friend was here for a week I would be sure we enjoy every single day, get pampered, go shopping, & eat at delicious restaurants each day!! Its a week out of the year so we have to take advantage.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mother. Since I was young, she taught me the importance of working for my own money, taught me the difference between my wants vs my needs, taught me the importance of investing my money in something that will help me grow instead of on items that will lose value. It was her visionary guidance that sparked my interest in real estate at a young age, prompting me to diligently save from the age of 14 and ultimately leading to my first investment property at age 18. This early exposure ignited a passion for real estate within me, propelling me into a career as a realtor at the age of 19. I fell in love with this career! The ability to assist families in achieving their real estate aspirations fills me with immense satisfaction and purpose. My dedication to the real estate profession, alongside a commitment to client education and advocacy, fuels my determination to consistently deliver the best possible outcomes for those I serve.
