Meet Melissa Roberts | Interior Designer and Founder, Melissa Roberts Interiors

We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Roberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melissa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I realized I wanted to design a life I didn’t need a vacation from; a life where creativity and purpose meet. I craved the freedom to chase my curiosity, take on projects that made my heart race, and create spaces that feel like someone’s soul got a Pinterest board makeover.
Starting my own business wasn’t a neat, calculated decision; it felt like leaping onto a moving train I’d been watching my whole life. What fuels me is seeing how a thoughtful, functional home can change the way people feel and live every day. Making someone fall in love with their space or giving them a home that truly works for their life, is my favorite kind of magic. I’m determined, endlessly curious, and always ready to learn; qualities that keep me sprinting toward the next challenge with a coffee in one hand and a tape measure in the other.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My studio is founded on the belief that great design should be both inspiring and deeply livable. What sets us apart is the personal connection I build with each client. I take the time to listen, understand, and translate their lifestyle into spaces that feel authentic to who they are. Every project is a true collaboration; rooted in care, trust, and genuine communication.
I’m most proud of the lasting relationships that have grown from this work. Many projects evolve into long-term partnerships, which to me is the greatest compliment. Of course, the journey here hasn’t been without challenges; learning to navigate budgets, timelines, and construction realities taught me how to be flexible and resourceful while still honoring the design vision.
At the heart of my brand is authenticity. It’s not just about creating beautiful rooms; it’s about creating homes with soul; layered, meaningful, and enduring. My hope is that the process feels just as rewarding as the final space, leaving clients with a design that reflects their story and a connection that feels genuine.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit, I’d plan a perfect day in The Woodlands full of my favorite local spots! We’d start the morning with coffee and pastries at Bluestone Lane before heading out for a walk along the Waterway and through East shore to soak in the views and admire the beautiful homes. Late morning, we’d spend time exploring Market Street; a mix of shopping, people-watching, and maybe a glass of wine at one of the patios.
In the afternoon, we’d squeeze in a quick message at Woodhouse Spa. If we’re in the mood for more fun, live music at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is always a treat.
We’d wrap the day with dinner at Kokoro (the sushi is incredible!) and maybe a nightcap at Sixty Vines or The Audrey.
The Woodlands really has the perfect mix, outdoor beauty, great dining, and just enough city energy to feel special.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the people and places that shaped me. First and foremost, my mom; my best friend, biggest supporter, and the person who taught me resilience, kindness, and how to trust my instincts. I also carry with me the influence of my late aunt, an interior designer who was not only a mentor but also an inspiration. She showed me what it meant to approach design with passion and heart, and her example continues to guide me every day.
And then there are the two small country towns that raised me, Port Acres and Hamshire-Fannett Those close-knit communities instilled in me a deep appreciation for authenticity, hard work, and connection; values I still carry into my life and business.
This journey has never been mine alone; it’s the result of the love, wisdom, and grounding I’ve received from the people I treasure and the places that made me who I am.
