We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Prince and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, what do you attribute your success to?
Consistency. We live in an age where we have a portal to the entire world in our pockets. As an artist, we all have social media platforms that give us opportunities to showcase our work and talent on a daily basis. These days, all it takes is one viral post to change our lives forever. That said, I believe that posting content consistently has been the biggest factor to my success. A year or two ago, I was hesitant to post content on social media, and I was quite inconsistent. The second I began posting consistently, my audience grew and so did my opportunities. I take the same mentality when it comes to releasing music. If I am consistently releasing music, it will give me even more content to post on my social media.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My goal is to be as versatile of a musician as possible. My musical foundation was classical, which gave me the necessary technique and fundamentals to be taken seriously as a musician. Once I reached high school, I began to crossover into other musical genres, starting with jazz. Now, when I am asked, I say I am a jazz, hiphop, pop, r&b, and soul violinist. I have gotten to where I am right now by simply investing in myself and my craft. I am a couple months from a college degree, which is a big deal for me. It is easy to be persuaded to invest money in stocks and cryptocurrency by the media, but the best investments I have made were in my music. Whether it be purchasing beats online, studio equipment, or advertising, it all has paid off in the long run.
One lesson that I have learned is college can play an instrumental role in character development. It has taught me how to struggle, grow, and thrive in an environment where others didn’t look like me.
I want the world to know that with consistency and perseverance, anyone can accomplish a goal. Whether it is playing violin or basketball, I am going to strive for perfection for ME, not for others. It is easy to get caught up in how others view your work, or whether not people stream and share your music. At the end of the day, the satisfaction I get from simply creating and completing a project far surpasses the satisfaction from likes or streams.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am outdoors person, so the first place I would take someone would be Hermann Park. I grew up in Third Ward, so the park was just a short bike away. Just Hermann Park alone could give you a full day, from the Zoo and Paddle-boats to Miller Outdoor Theatre. I am not much of a foodie, so my go to would be Whataburger! Finally, a bike through downtown, Allen Parkway, and Memorial Park. That is my go to for a midday adventure.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family. They helped build a support group, “My Village,” that has been there through thick and thin. They have come to or viewed every concert I have ever given, even if it meant driving 7 hours for a 30 minute recital. Also, I am forever grateful to anyone who has ever streamed, reposted, commented, or shared anything I have produced. Words of Affirmation are often not seen as important, but they can truly have an impact on whether or not someone decides to stay in the music industry or not.
