We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Guerra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
After assessing what I enjoyed learning and doing and then LOTS of trial and error on service offerings, I finally came up with a business idea that could help Entrepreneurs build a business that they would enjoy working with every day and scale for their future leveraging technology.
After attending innumerable networking events, and listening to mainly service-based businesses, I was able to understand what they were struggling with when it came to managing their day-to-day activities with their customers and growing their business.
Here are a few examples of the pain points I assisted with that started my coaching and consulting business.
A Solopreneur Blinds, Shades, and Shutter business was limiting their ability to scale the business. Managing manual appointment scheduling, order management, and accounting procedures was consuming all of their time. Leaving no room to hire and train someone to assist in his business.
An Entrepreneurial Interior Design firm had just invested in a new software solution to manage all their projects. However, they were unable to completely transition to the new system easily, causing more work for the office manager and confusion for the team.
Having a background working in software companies I’m able to use my analytical skills to help these Entrepreneurs use the right technology as well as map out their specific workflows for using the technology to manage their business activities more efficiently.
What should our readers know about your business?
As a Soloist, I invest my time learning as much about the Google Workspace (business platform) and various technologies for my own service-based business so that I can teach others how to leverage these capabilities within their own business.
Using Google technology I publish a weekly email list called System Bytes. In these emails, I share my ideas, concepts for workflows, systems, and all kinds of strategies with technologies that a small business that uses Google Workspace can benefit from using.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Rector, Les Carpenter, has been my champion for me for a long time. Many times when I struggled with difficult crossroads in my business he was able to help me identify what path I wanted to take going forward that would inspire and motivate me to continue instead of quit.
He’s also giving me an open-ended opportunity to serve in my own church community to continue to build my professional development.
