We had the good fortune of connecting with Michel’le Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michel’le, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued an artistic career because I have always been heavy into art and fashion!

I’ve always been intrigued by the different elements of art and all that you can do with fashion, so I decided to teach myself how to paint and sew.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what makes my brand stand out from others is that my brand legit represents me! Its loud, fun, and quirky just like me and that shows through my pieces!

Some lessons I have learned along the way is to stay consistent, determined, overall resilient no matter what!

I went from constantly being unemployed, hopping from home to home, having failed relationships, and just all around not having it figured it; to now being one of the top Stylist in Chicago, having a solid foundation for my kids and I, and can be proud to say that I’m proud of myself!

I want the world to know that we ALL have our own battles to face. It’s just the matter of wanting to conquer and win that will determine how far you get!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite spots in my hometown to go to is this black owned restaurant called Phlavz! Their food and drinks are amazing, the music is dope, and it’s just a great vibe in general!

My friend and I would hit up Headquarters, which a free arcade located up North! All you have to pay for is your drinks and food!

Another spot here in Chicago I absolutely love is called Reggie’s. It gives you like a edgy vibe, but they have amazing cheap food, you can karaoke, they have a music store located on the 2nd floor, and they also have a rooftop with games!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Of course! I have to first and foremost acknowledge my mother. She’s been my biggest fan and biggest supporter throughout my journey. My mom is also really into fashion, so growing up she always made sure we looked our best and was up on the latest trends.

Another individual who plays a big part in my success is a individual who goes by the name of Blake Martin. He took me under his wing and showed the in’s and out of the fashion industry and I couldn’t be more appreciative!
