We had the good fortune of connecting with Mickey Factz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mickey, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is not for the feint of heart. It is a true test of someone who has guts, goals and grandiose expectations. Risk for some can be seen as gambling. For me its looked at as purpose. Mapping out a plan and executing it through risk is one of the greatest joys in life a lot of people won’t ever experience. Without risks, this interview would have never happened. Id be a completely different person.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Pendulum Ink Academy is the first ever school for lyricism and Hip Hop. Thats what sets us apart from everyone. We don’t have any competition. Because what we do, doesn’t exist. Im most proud of creating a school that will carry on the legacy of Hip Hop well beyond my year. I built this company with my co-owners daily, sacrificing capital, time and ideas to get us where we are. It was not easy. We had and still have many challenges along the way. It has been a struggle to properly take this thing to the next level but we are taking it in stride. We have learned to persevere over anything. And I want people to know, never take no for answer. Create your own future and live in it proudly.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d take them to Puttshack here in Atlanta. Its a new age version of Miniature Golf. Unlike anybody has ever seen. Thats the first place. After that, Hawks or Braves game, depending on time of the season. We’d have to go to Toco Grill for good kosher food. Then capping it off at The Gathering Spot for some networking. Cant forget the aquarium and all the other landmarks around Atlanta.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God has paved the way for me that I didn’t foresee being possible. I am still in shock that I am where I am. And when I step back and think about it, its only through his will I am here. Aside from that, my family, friends and business partners.
